More to do with the mounting than counter balancers. Touring bikes are rubber mounted, softails are solid mounted. The driveline is also more isolated on the touring bikes with a rubber cushion in the rear sprocket where it fixes to the wheel vs the solid mounting on a softail wheel. That being...
Cost would be the main reason as you’ll need the pipes, front shields and different mounting brackets when I looked into it. The note is different slightly.
I went from an R18 to an R18B both in FE trim.
The B handled better because of the rake difference and was more comfortable for sure but, on reflection overall it was a less fun ride than the R18 imo. In hindsight, I probably should have just changed the rear shock on my R18. Fuel capacity/...
I suspect the experience will differ vastly depending on your location and the sort of riding you do however, Road King Special over an R18 Roctane all day long imo especially if you’re going to use it for its intended purpose.
I tend to ride solo and don’t get involved with HOG chapter rides...
I received these letters as well, unfortunately I no longer own either and no option on the form to tell BMW which is unusual from other recall letters I’ve had. I’m hoping they will contact the DVLA to obtain the correct details.
Alternatively, if the new owners of HN22 EMK or RE71 ZHU are on...
I agree with most of what Vyk has said above.
I had a 2018 stage 2 Street Glide Special for a while.
Screen/ Infotainment- It didn’t have the latest Boom Box GTS system which arrived in 2019, so no CarPlay option but anything newer can/ does have it. It did also come with stand alone navigation...
BMW sacrificed volume to be able to show off some of the exposed driveshaft on the B/ TC imo which was a mistake if they were serious about the touring market and one of the few things they got wrong imo. The stretched bags I had on my street glide special were a more useful shape and size when...

I’m sure there was another member with them too.
I never bothered in the end, saw some more pics and didn’t think they fitted the B/TC as well as they could have. Looked like they were a slightly smaller diameter than the standard pipes which looked odd to me where it met the heatshield. I haven’t noticed the same issue on the R18 though

Another R18 variant being unveiled this week it seems. Whether it’s the Roctane or not we’ll have to wait and see. Reminds me of a Road King Special with that headlight nacelle. I am surprised they are persisting with this family of bikes if I’m honest given the...
