The Healtech plugs will take a week 🤞 to get up into the mountains.
If I see correctly, there is only óne bolt through a silent block, up into the chassis and two extentions pushed into grommets to the rear.
So remove the plastic covers, unhook the four adjusters again, drop the cablles down, refit covers. Next unbolt, pull free, unclip the connectors. Fit and tie wrap the plug ins.
As observed by others, should be less work than just unhook the anchors. Unhooking those with the servos off will give much more slack.

The front mud guard took a month but was delivered in the village yesterday. Apparently.
Hope fitting will not throw up surprises. Expect I will need to drill for the fitting pins I see. Dremel should be ok for that.

Well that was easy; no pins or what.
Correct torx bit, small ratchet directly over it and just locking fluid slowing things down.
Easy peasy.

Imo looks a lot better befitting the retro thing. Front and rear mudguard are now matching.

Cost me 107.15 € incl. shipping.

Crap!
Went down to the coast. All ok.
Started the engine to go back and... warning triangle, no fault message, CEL on, ABS light went out. Hmmm.
Probably the exhaust flap cables thought and drove off, ASC went out.

At home tried read out the warning but no WARN in the log.

ABS and ACC now light up and go out after a few metres. No warning triangle, only CEL.

So look where the OBD2 port is; it is on the left.
Plug in the U480 but after iniially allthe god screes cannot read the BMW software. Nice one that.

I do hear one or more exhaust flap cables moving and clicking. So that is going underneath again and now take the OUT of the actuator housing. Tie wrap them together and somewhere out of the way till the plug ins arrive and I can delete the lot.
Maybe delete the servos now as I have a fault code anyway.

About that code: will need a compatible modern reader. Healtech again?

Have this modern smart-ish battery charger in delightful old skool guise. Like the R18 really, so had a go.
Insulated the red ´+´ clamp and connected it to the jump start pole. Next the black ´-´ under the cyl. head which surpisingly (to me) gave a minute spark.
Switched on the charger. Green LED immediately and after a few seconds smart stuff it started charging.
The 75% block started blinking. Makes sense because I had been faffing with the OBD2 reader and when you switch on iginition the lights are on too.
Went to the last block in minutes.
My conclusion is that the battery can be charged directly using the jump start poles.

That is what I do with both of my r18s. Easy Peasy.
Kind of typical that BMW is very careful to NOT mention this in the user manual :ROFLMAO: but instaead WARNING, WARNING, WARNING!!! Only use our special extra smart überexpensive BMW charger.

There is a procedure with pictures on page 193 of the owners manual. That is how I found out. I was using the R18B manual, so maybe on another page if you have a different model.

Mine only has 152 pages and very briefly mentions jumps start with a near useless illustration which certaily does not help to find the plug.
Small wonder that threads on charging do not mention it.

Meanwhile did some dedicated digging for steering damper info. My 2022 does not have CC thus neither the damper fitted but looking at the brake lines, brackets and bolt hole it sure cán be.
Now I prefer not to have one for solo riding although it not réally impairs anything. The reason I am looking at it is that I may in future more likely than not fit a sidecar. Now thát for sure means steering damper but most sidecar mountings/kist come with one I dislike.
Thus looked if OEM is even an option on mine and it is:
Only the very very first; pre 31-08-´20 produced ones have the brake cables supported from the lower fork clamp and áfter that they have a junction mounted to the frame. Those earliest ones are not compatible with the steering damper fitment, all after are.

The Healtech plugs are in.
Thus bike on its side:
First loosened the singke bolt under the frame.
Covers off the exhaust flap mechanisms.
Cables outof the brakets.
Now pulled the servo motor assembly.
Unplugged the ... plugs.
Plugged in the ... plug ins.

Now first lasagna.
Charming wife has prepared lasaga ánd given me a hand whenever I asked to put the bike on the side, to shine light under and unasked for moral support and bringing me water to drink.
Anyway, lasagna.

Both plugged in and dangly bits tie wrapped out of the way.
The little tie wraps coming with the kit would have sufficed but I prefered to use two sturdier ones instead so had two of the little ones left over.

Two observations:
- The single mounting bolt of the servo assembly screws into a clip on nut. You need to slide it off the frame tab lest it does not drop off further down the road.
- The smart bit of the plug ins comes with an adhesive side which is mighty handy to stick them to the bottom of the plastic EVAP can.

Not switched the bike on yet because it is still lying in its side as charming is doing a sleeping beauty.

Ah and the servo assy is surprisingly lightweight and also sat low. Not much gained there ;)

About the EVAP, not removing that as it does reduce vaps when parked inside.

p.s. nope fault code has not gone. Stands to reason but one can hope no?! Will have wait for the OBDLink LX Bluetooth Adapter incl ScanMaster OBD 2 Diagnosesoftware für alle Kfz.
Should be here Friday so have some time to search for user tips for the R18.

Went for chocolate con churros some 20 minutes up the road.
Onle 20 minutes either way so the puddin´basin only, no sunglasses needed yet.

Rumbling though that village up the road a friend waved us down. Congrats with marriage and what a bike  ´just like the Nimbus but modern´.

Charming wanted to extend the ride.
Hmmm... Ok.
Thus none too fast with that no-helmet and retro pilots goggles. Nevvah liked those goggles. The pilots sat in a cockpit, me exposed and those goggles leak air on mý face.
Enjoyable ride nonetheless and we stopped after about an hour.
Charming commented on a rather tricky bump halfway the ride. No way to see it as it was in the shade of a tree thus masking the shade of the transverse rut I would otherwise have spotted:

She had a good laugh about my sketch on the fluffy napkin.

The rest of the ride very enjoyable. Even at 120 km/h on the connecting bits of highway.

Where did you get the mudguard from? I am looking on ebay but they seem to be for the 16" wheel fitted on the classic

Because I like riding with the hands quite loosely on the bars to let the geometry of the bike do it´s stabilising steering. I basically ride the way BMW engineers assume the cruise control is used. Ergo thought about a steering damper.
Saw one on ebay and pounced. Should take, if customs cooperates, about a month to get up here.
