Looking for a simple side license plate mount option

Here's a question: would the stated 9cm (3.5 inches) of rear suspension travel be the total travel, motorcycle weight notwithstanding? Or the travel from the resting, wheels on the ground, point? I'd guess that it's the former.

Total rear suspension travel is total unload position, wheel off the ground to suspension fully compressed position.
The 3.5'' claimed travel is a bit unclear.
Actual measurement of the rear shock fully extended to shock snubber, integral to the shock, is 3.5" fully extended to snubber contact.
This was also confirmed compressing the shock with a hydraulic press.
Suspension to shock ratio yields an actual rear tire travel of approximately 5.25"
All of my clearances have been set to the 5.25" travel dimension.
The actual suspension travel is limited by the driveshaft to frame clearance.

Well, the answer to question of how far the mufflers travel towards the rear swing arm while lifting the engine (aka simulating an airborne event to truly top-out the spring) is….

I’m not planning on mounting the plate that close, just used it for reference.

Have you checked full compression?
Rather hard to do with the shock installed, but doable.
Like looking down the barrel of a loaded 12 ga OR
Be like disarming a self destruct CIA operation Niagara listening device, very tricky.
I always used a one pound block of C4 and blew them in place.
