I test drove a R18 with a windshield and found the buffeting to be terrible. I took the windshield off and rode it and the experience was much improved! I had the same issue with the stock windshield on my Africa Twin, it just made riding worse.

Just for the heck of it I removed my windshield and mirrors today and went for about a 100 mile ride. Wow! What a difference. I already like this bike but removing the windshield and mirrors made a HUGE difference in how much I enjoyed my ride today. I'd forgotten how nice it was to ride a naked motorcycle. No buffeting. No wind noise other than my helmet (very little). I could clearly hear and appreciate the exhaust. The bike just felt different. It was like riding a UJM. I can't remember which writer/article said the R18 is more naked bike than it is pure cruiser was spot on. This thing is much more FUN to ride without the windshield. I took the mirrors off because it looks cleaner without them when the windshield isn't there. I don't think I'll be putting either one back on (nor the pillion).View attachment 3162
Just for the heck of it, I removed my pants and went for a ride.
WOW, The nice policeman was not amused.

Sounds like you just need to learn how to amuse cops with your pants off. I don't see how the bike plays into that at all. :)
Please, sounds as if you are quite experienced at entertaining cops with your pants off, if you would, please give us interactive incites?
Enquiring minds want to know.

Like with most activities, one can entertain with either either impressive hardware or technique. But I fear going too far off topic describing methodology like gyrations and tackle decoration (you beemer guys call 'em farkles, right?) since I'm rather new here. I haven't even picked up my R18 yet!

I call them shinny, store bought, doodads that serve no actual essential function on a motorcycle phones rank unquestionably #1.

I use an Arai helmet with a chin dam. I bought a naked bike on purpose. I am getting a pugh windshield (I already have a good windshield spoiler ) for long long trips. But the lack of buffet is good without.

I removed screen and find riding without absolutely fine, certainly on journeys less than 100 miles. Annoyingly I have misplaced one of the rubber cup washers that support the screen when secured into the top of the fork stantions.
