Bill - are you still planning on picking up the parts tomorrow?

Hello from Alberta, Canada. I just purchased a new 2023 medium blue R18 Transcontinental a couple of weeks ago....just in time for winter's arrival. Love it. Have spent the last 25 years riding 6 cylinder Hondas. My last BMW was a 1977 R75/7 which I purchased new. Had it until marriage, kids and work interfered.

I am enjoying this forum.

Hello RyBread, I'm a new member - waiting to introduce myself to the forum until my R18 is delivered sometime this week. On one of your posts, you said that the Hex EZ Can for the BMW k1600 and R9T models will work on the R18. Just wanted to get your advice and find out if this indeed true. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I've already gone ahead and installed one to control Denali D7s, B6 brake light, and Mini Sound Bomb. Everything is working fine.
I'm based in UK. I'm considering giving my handle bar and a few chrome components a glossy black powder coat. I am having trouble finding a mechanic that can remove these items and reinstall them. I spoke with the BMW Showroom, but their quotation is far too high. None of local garage would do this. Is there someone in the area who can help me to remove and reinstall for me at a fair price?

My apology, I’ve sent many photos on this forum but it is not letting me do it now. You can call me with questions at 812-483-3913. BTW Pro Race still has not sent my full titanium exhaust. It has been close to a month now. Regards, Tony
Nice bike. I also have the 100th anniversary. It’s on display at BMW Melbourne until I can ride it in July. But I own it. I’ve never ridden one. Are you happy with yours?

Hello from Sydney Australia.
First time post. I have been watching and reading for a while and have found the forum to be very helpful. I have recently retired and traded my 2018 HD FLHTK Ultra Limited in on a new 2022 R18TC, was a run out sale fully optioned 719 package. Have just had 10K service & new tyres fitted for an upcoming trip across to Western Australia, 9000kms return.

Beautiful bike. Enjoy your trip. There are so many killer deals on R18 in Australia at the moment. It would be crazy not to buy one or two. :>)
What a wonderful bike. I sell Beemers, bought the 100 year anniversary for my Christmas present to myself, and am smitten. Enjoy your new ride brother!

About 750 thus far. No complaints, lots of complements. Loving the bike, the two person seat - not so much.
Went to a solo saddle today.
Hi there,
I saw your posts on the forum - I have a question about Akrapovic Exhaust.

I wonder if drilling out the rear perforated mesh (I marked these places with a red arrow) will help?
Will drilling out these places make the sound better?
What do you think about it?

Best regards
Krzysztof (from Poland)

Hello Krzysztof, sorry for delay, i missed your question. You can drill it, but difference would not be any dramatic by my opinion. Even with baffle fully removed the sound is deeper than fishtails, but still decent. For me it sounds like stock Harley now. With DNA air filter, flaps fully open and unbaffled Akrapovic's is my R18 still more silent than my friend's Moto Morini 6 1/2 with factory muffler :))
I sold my Indian and bought the BMW R18 FE and never looked back. It handles like a BMW. It is much more agile in the twisties and weighs approx 70 lbs. less. Low speed "parking lot" manuevers are about the same, but you get used to it.

What does the BMW do better than the Indian. Appreciate your input
According to my owners manual I should have a setting that shows the Oil temperature in the instrument cluster. Mine does not show it. Have an appointement with the dealer next week. Anybody else had this problem?
