R18 Anniversary Edition
This is a repeat thread for new members or those who haven't heard of this great mod. It drastically improved my highway riding experience. What I am sharing here is not my original work, but what I learned from our very own R2K.

Prior to installing lower deflectors on my R18 bike, highway speed updraft turbulence was enormous. My 3/4 helmet would not stay down. At first I thought the problem was with the new Jurock shield I installed. It wasn't. The 18" Jurock is a terrific shield for me at 5'8".

After installing the lowers (shown in the pic) from Memphis Shades, the updraft went to zero. I use the word zero because there isn't any wind rising from underneath anymore. None.

These lowers from Memphis shades have a very light smoke tint. Lucky for me I ordered the Jurock windshield with light smoke also,

Here is the information you need to duplicate this mod.

Memphis Shades
The part number for the deflectors is MEM5804
The part number for the mounting brackets is MEK1980

Here is the URL for it:

This particular one is for the Yamaha Roadliner, but fits the R18 just right.

Hi, do you know the inner diameter of the brackets or the outer diameter of the fork at that point the bracket is mounted?

Ordered the same, waiting for it. Thanks for the advice. Any tip to not to scratch the paint with the brackets?

I ran into this exact issue; overtightning it caused the metal to go thru the rubber padding in the inside of the bracket. I would add blue painters tape underneath to protect your forks.

The brackets from Memphis Shades have a black rubber lining along the inside surface. I was glad when I saw that. Did not anticipate the scratch issue. .

Can you please post a picture where you can see the R 18 fork 'vein' and the bracket ?

No issue with scratching ... I've had mine on and off several times looking for the best spot.

And yes, those are the ones ... make sure you get the polished mount kit as well.

Btw, it can be a bit tricky figuring out how to get it together but remember that the rubber bushings need to be pushed into the holes of the plastic lowers themselves.

I’ll try to get a pic this evening. I bought a longer bolt at ACE hardware to accommodate the largest circumference.
I also have these items bolted to my Harley
