Got a 2022 R18B . I’m not going to pay for BMW OEM oil . Just about adds up to monthly payment! So what do I use . I’ve have always used Bel ray 85-140 hypoid oil in my Harley transmission and it ran just fine . Can I use the same oil in both trans and final drive ?

Looks like it spec out to be GL-5 hypoid gear oil .

Mopar makes exact replacement lubricants and it is way way less expensive.

I use Bel-Ray Hypoid 80-90 the weight ratings are closer to the BMW oil and I have had no problems ...

I need clarification on the distinction between Hypoid 80-90 and Hypoid 85-140. Is the latter for hot climates and the former for cold climates?
Would it make any difference to use either/or?
