R18 Anniversary Edition
I haven't received any notice from BMW about a $1,000 compensation for a failed reverse function.
I'm reading rumor after rumor. Anyone know the real story in the states?

I can only share my experience..... Both, my Model B and my newly purchased First Edition had the Reverse functionality disabled. Each bike earned a $1,000 compensation credit that can ONLY be used towards "R18 Accessories", not parts, tires, clothing, etc.

I purchased a 719 Option heated seat for my Model B, and two sets of the Machined Hand Levers with the compensation credit.

Super Simple... The dealership was super motivated to accommodate my schedule and get the work completed ASAP; I assume warranty and or recall work pays well...

I called 2 dealers within 100 miles of me and BMW Motorad USA before taking it to the dealer to get the work done. All claimed to know nothing about the $1000 credit. Well BMW Motorad told me to take it to the dealer and speak with them, which when I did they told me about the credit and took my bike to service that and the headlight recall.

Is there any plan to FIX the actual issue with Reverse functionality, or is the plan to simply never re-enable (think ahead, and park on flat or pointed uphill)?

Well across the pond in UK i have had my reverse disconnected , my dealer showed me the official BMW letter which states : i will be compensated 4% of the price i paid for the bike which can be spent on accessories for the bike only , one point i made was it states the accessories will be "mounted" when i queried this as what that meant i was informed if you require the accessories fitted you will be charged labour rates . Now maybe i,m a muppet but mounted to me means fitted so i will bring this up with a higher member of the dealership .

BMW is developing a solution from what I understand; with that said, it is extremely easy to restore the Reverse functionality to the R18 platform...

Would you please share the location of the reverser module. Assume one can just reconnect...

Do you have a copy of the Service Bulletin, or any instructions on how to restore the reverse function? I would love to do that.

Here it is
Thank you. I was referring to the instructions, or steps to reconnect the reverse feature. I had my dealer disconnect it to get the $1,000, now I would like to reconnect it. My bike never touches water, so the chance for corrosion is very small.
