´Later´ base R18s without the optional c.c. don´t have the damper As I wrote the original MY 2020 first edition coúld not have either. My 2023 R18 has cruise and steer damper. Did not know early models didn’t.
No, not different anywhere in the world. If cc was an option then it was second production run. As I explained the R18 had the brake lines slightly rerouted for the steering damper to be fitted and no cc. without that. Exact production date change and photos in the 10cts. thread.I had one of the very first R18 FE delivered in France, in september 2020. And the Cruuse control/ Damper was an option.
Could have been different in the US.
Here is the link for recalls. As far as i understood, this is the international one. We have checked bikes which were produced for Russia till sanctions and also bikes which were imported from USA or Japan after sanctions by individuals. We have seen recalls on different bikes from different countries. In Russia there is not a governmental recall base to check (as far as i know, i am also foreigner here). So bmw website is the only reliable database in my case.I can’t comment on the bracket because I have not thrown myself on the floor to look underneath mine, but I will check tonight when I return to the car park and see. I had the recall done and I am aware a new hardware was added. Two things regarding the BMW recall notification.
1- In the UK we check for recalls mainly in the DVLA website which is the government website that controls all aspects of motor vehicles. This is done by entering the number plate (not the VIN) and the recall notification will appear. If this is similar in Russia, as your bike was imported from Japan the Russian website may not have any records of past recalls etc.
2- When the reverse gear recall campaign was in full swing, I checked the DVLA and guess what? No recalls were logged. Even better, I never got the letter from BMW Motorrad advising to have the recall done. Mine was performed as I went to the garage for the oil change and the tech guy told me since I was there the recall was going to be done and they lent me a motorcycle go 48hrs whilst the work was being done.
One will assume that the Motorrad site should be up to date but in my experience it is not always the case.
