Makes sense. I recall many years back demo riding the new indian scout and loved the engine though first man hole cover ‘bumb’ I went over told me the bike was not for me.
Just seems such a lose when bike companies come out with great engines then screw up the fame, suspension or other parts of the bike design. Or the oppose and instead toss in a bad engine in a otherwise great bike design. I am not per say saying them doing the 1800cc was great thinking…maybe just too darn big/heavy of a cc engine to be a good boxer design though guess they wanted to keep up with the Jones’ type thing (aka harley).
BMW did great with their NineT line it seems, in that case making using the older boxer engine, and selling lower cost bikes of that engine type. Too bad indian did not put that Scout engine into a Standard nor similar bike with bags and fairing.
I don’t expect I will find my next/last boxer in what BMW has…nor…be able to create in the R18 line. As much as owners of thr R18 love the engine, well looks of bike also, due to its size it just seems they have ‘boxed’ (get it boxer….engine) themselves into a corner on what new model trims they can make using that engine.
I just want my cake and eat it too. Guess never say never, just not holding my breath It would be owning an R18. Then again, if I found a used one for $10k within reach in south east might change my mind lol. For that kind of money would be willing to live with some R18 trade offs

And NO am not holding my breath waiting/figuring on that to drop in my lap anytime soon.
