I have money, just not enough to explain to my wife why there’s an extra set of motorcycle mufflers sitting in the garage to be possibly never used, amount of spare money.
Don’t you know that the new seat was because of a recall on the original one ?

Wow that evolved quickly from warranty to money to wife.

My wife disagrees with ány money spent on any of my vehicles. I cannot be bothered to spin a story about any of it. It is my money and it has been my hobby/life style for well over 5 decennia before she entered the scene. If she wants more cash she can go earn some. Hence she is not giving me the option of ´either me or the wheels´
She was/is vehemently opposed to me fitting the sidecar and has sworn she is not getting in. Tant pis. If she can´t be pleasant, charming company then she is not even welcome! and I will have my dog and/or other charming company along.

My point is that since I can’t drill them because of warranty, don’t have lay around cash for ‘a maybe’ and don’t want the possible grief; the lack of noise problem becomes mute rather than unnecessary other noise that I don’t need. All is well at the ‘Hunts Household’ and I continue to add things to my new machine… just quietly go about it.

I have a Píccolo called Giácomo.
An ´italian´ racing dog must be named such.

This will be my 5th sidecar and tbh the way they not-handle is enough to máke you a heavy drinker

Even though I wore out two in commuting, they are totally unsuited for daily use. There is NÓTHING more involving to ride/drive though so perfect for after work, read pensioned.

Imo the recipe for ´The Life´ is early pension, move to sunny skies, get a tattoo, buy a sidecar and a 2 stroke Vespa. The latter preferably a later model with disc brake as the drums are more token than effective.

p.s. also have a 1939 Nimbus sidecar and would lóve to add a Vespa sidecar but those go for silly money here.

p.p.s. share my pensioner life with a 17 years younger latina and that is more ´exciting´ than a drum not-braked Vespa sidecar ....

Ah.... Australia.... retire early (say at 48).... find a 17 years younger Latina.... your now 55.... she moves on.... and you are now broke and homeless (the courts gave it to her along with most of your savings).... unemployable (agest society here).

Much better to retire early and get lots of motorbikes (and a dog).... and maybe just keep the reliable partner.

As far as a sidecar goes..... I'm entering the phase were I'd probally lane filter with it in some mindless moment..... then have to get and train a new dog. On the R18 would just need a one jug rocker cover.

I am going to ask ‘the dumb question’… wouldn’t drilling out the end baffles on my 2025 model affect my 5 year warranty?

Why would you ruin my fun, held off on drilling for a few weeks, talked to the guys at the dealer, they said it wasn’t a big deal so I cut them out a few days ago. I wanted to ask this same question in the group but didn't want to be THAT guy. Anyways, it better, but I want a little more out of it. I like how the freedom exhaust sounds, may go that route. Will need to figure out how to make them dark chrome though. Need to keep that look. Missed out on an opportunity to purchase the Jekyll and Hyde for 1300 on ebay, win some lose some I guess.

I'm going to see if powder coating is a possibility. I like the sound of the freedom 4.5-inch exhaust. I found this dark chrome powder coat going to check with manufacture on weather its heat resistant. As far as the exhaust goes, the way I see it, BMW sells aftermarket exhaust systems for the R18, they programmed the ECU to change air/fuel ratios for modifications. I think it will come down to your local dealer and how flexible they can be with you. I think your bike is one of the best looking R18s out there by the way. Makes me want to buy a second one.
