I love that part of the world. I came across Temecula when on a 3000 mile Harley tour with three other veterans from the UK / Falklands.
The second time I visited, was with my wife. There happened to be a large classic car show which took over the whole town.
 
Yes, the Temecula Rod Run is an annual event which usually has over a 1000 entrants into the restoration and cruise competition. There are also a couple of smaller events during the year. Some of the 1960’s custom VW buses I like best.
