I will report on the Yoshimura oil temperature gauge.

Power comes from the battery through the accessory fuse.
Since I also have a drive recorder, I put the distributor in the pannier case.
The oil temperature sensor is attached to the drain bolt.
Also, another sensor is used as a temperature sensor. The temperature sensor is showing a near correct temperature.
The oil temperature sensor showed around 110 degrees Celsius several times in the traffic jam of the town. That's why I use all synthetic oils.
When the oil temperature of the R18 rose, the oil temperature did not drop suddenly like a water-cooled type, even if it was running. I think if the oil temperature is very high, the best thing to do is shut off the engine.

Thank you so much for the links and pics ... very enlightening ... never thought about the drain plug ... that is a hell of a good idea! and thank you for the links as well. Sadly I don't like that digital gage I was hoping for something more analog, round ... something more matching the speedo ... but thank you! I will keep looking ... but now I have an idea here to pick up the reading!

Actually, I was also looking for something analog and round. However, I could not find such a thing in the electric type.
Also, I'm worried that the drain bolt may come in contact with something.
Please let me know if you have any good ideas.

For what it's worth (FWIW), I found this:

Is this what you are talking about?

Yes, that is similar to what Yama had in his pics ... to bad I was looking for something more analog looking ...

I sure will ... the simple idea of where to attach a sending unit was a great help to me .. thank you for that.
