I did the same as you - flashed it in the middle of winter and had to wait. Actually wished I would have done a back-to-back for the first go to really get a feel for the difference.Success - the unit just arrived. Its pretty straight forward - got the tuning file back within hours and already flashed everything. Wish it wasn't icey and so cold - dying to test ride the machine!!![]()

If you can sideload windows through bootcamp you’re good. I think it’s only for Intel Macs tho. Otherwise, maybe a pawn shop or Craigslist for whatever working POS PC you can nab for cheap?Just ordered mine. Now to find a Mac workaround...........![]()
Before first service, the factory wants you to keep a certain RPM range for break-in. And for many riders, that 500-600 miles comes up pretty quick after delivery. I suppose part of the guidance is that they don’t want folks to hoon out with the new tune on a bike that’s not yet broken in.Dont know if I should start a new thread, please lmk.
This is in regards to BT-moto's statement regarding "use of ecu flash apparently ONLY after 1st service?"
From their FAQS:
- We recommend that you listen to your manufacturer's break-in procedures and do not flash until your motorcycle is fully "broken in". In the case with BMW this means waiting the 600 miles with limited RPM. We cannot circumvent the manufacturer's procedure. We are not able to remove factory enabled rev-limiters set in place at the dealer level and foregoing the first service will always result in warranty denial at the dealer level.
So my understanding was the 1st service was ONLY fluids thus to save a huge chuck of money I did the oil, trans and read gears myself. Is there more than that? By whats written above it sounds like some service entry is added to the ecu? As in codes cleared? That has to have been done/added by the dealer in order for the ecu flash to work, or to work without voiding the warranty? Or do I now need to also get the GS-911 to clear codes?
Reason behind the statement is anytime you take your bike or car to BMW it is subject to an iDrive update. If a new update is applied all ECUs are set to factory defaults. Doing so will wipe out any custom settings which have been made to any of the ECUs.Dont know if I should start a new thread, please lmk.

My one went the same (for my r9t)..... now I'm contemplatimg a second one (for the R 18).... mmmm, will need to see how long the code is valid for....Done and done.. Brentune updated.
Gotta hand it to these BT-moto guys.. this whole process was fairly painless in part made that way by their, highly responsive, lightning fast tech support and thorough directions/info. Even my newb (and a little paranoid) questions handled with easy to understand, respectful reply. I've yet to really giv'er a go but the round the block initial test was distinctly better!
Only took them an hour from upload to return the tune!!!

Be careful when you take your bike in for the reverse gear fix.... Need to ensure you tell them not to update your bike, if they do it will wipe that tuneDone and done.. Brentune updated.

Not sure if it’s an ECU update or a TFT update, but I fully expect I’ll be dishing out another $200 to BT for a revised tune.Be careful when you take your bike in for the reverse gear fix....
