Scott, you're welcome to come try my set up, I have the Helibars. Am in East Brunswick.
@RhoXS
I have short arms, and put on the Helibars. They don't give you more reach but the angle makes the reach easier. I think once I add the utopia backrest to scooch myself up an inch or so it will be...
Anyone have this issue where there is no audio playing for turn by turn directions? It is set up properly to play through speakers and no headset connected. It seems to work right the first time I make the phone connection but stops working after I restart the bike.
I am using iPhone 14 pro...
I am selling a R18B low windscreen. It has about 200 miles on it by my estimation and while it does have some small blemishes that you have to look closely to see, overall looks to be in great condition. Asking $150 plus shipping from 08816 via paypal.
Didn't feel much pull back on mine, but the angle is definitely better so it feels like it's closer to me. BMW has a new set of bars for the TC and B called Bagger Handlebars 15", and this might be the solution for us with short arms.
My dealer told me the same but they charge half an hour for the software update, so I opted not to do it. Honestly, I don't even use the extra features, so I don't really care to update unless there's a noticeable performance/safety improvement.
Good to know, just got my bars but haven't put them in yet. Did you need to take the bags completely off or were you able to slide the rear mounting plate in with just the screws on the hardbags loose?
Did mine at CC Metuchen last week. First service is $427 plus tax. 2 hours at $140/hr plus supplies... Basically engine and final drive oil change. I asked about getting the software updated, and since there is no TSB out, they charge half an hour to update it. I did not opt for the software update.
I have wrist issues generally and no issues riding the R18TC for long stretches. Back starts hurting before anything. A decade ago I had a ninja 650 which vibrated so much at the handlebars that my hands would go numb after a long day ride.
Maybe there's a big difference with stock suspension for the regular r18 compared to the bagger and tc. I find the TC suspension very compliant and comfortable, especially compared to my stock Road King.
I've realized a lot of those review carry some strong biases. A lot of those guys doing reviews don't actually ride big cruisers and so I can't imagine they would understand or appreciate the point of a large machine like the R18. Regardless, whatever gets people buying the bike, I am all for...
I’m not sure if this is by design but when I sat in the passenger seat I noticed the top case/back rest moved back 1-2cm.
I tried tightening the four bolts at the bottom but that only seemed to crush the rubber gasket or whatever they are. Is the top case supposed to have some play in it or...
I was thinking getting the Utopia backrest, which could be adjusted forward to push myself up a little closer to the bars. That might be my next move until another vendor realizes short people ride big bikes!
