    Faulty headlight.

It has been a couple of months now & I use my bike for my daily ride to work. I have had the headlight replaced as it was starting to fail. This was done in November last year at my annual service. The adaptive headlight issue is not being treated as a general recall in the UK, but will be...

    Faulty headlight.

Did you try turning the ignition off & then back on after a few seconds? My TC did the same to me but cleared after switching the bike off & back on, the issue hasn't re-occurred.

Right side trip panel (covers toolkit) popped off

How about something like this, used them on my R1100RT mirrors as the mirror pods were about £200 to replace. In the UK you can get them from Motorworks link to part https://www.motorworks.co.uk/mirror-safety-wire-set-faa33460-1.html although it wouldn't be hard to make something similar.

    Transcontinental seat on a Classic?

I can't help with the fitting side, but on the heating side only the riders seat is controlled from the screen, the passenger seat has a three position rocker switch on the left side giving low off & high settings.

    Auxiliary/ambient/puddle lights R18B

The TC has a light in the top box, but not in the panniers. I've been riding for thirty plus years, mostly on Kwak GTR1000's & R1100rt's, never had lights in any of the luggage. When needed a small torch or the light on my phone is all that I required

Yes, my TC was one of their demo bikes.

    Reverse recall = RSD covers

I received a text about the recall, & phoned my dealer about it. The work was done while the bike was in for service. The compensation is 4% of the price you paid for the bike, less any accessories purchased at the time. Value of factory options, adaptive headlight, active cruise etc, is...

Recall? On all models with Reverse

I have had a text ref the recall, so I phoned Bahnstormers in Faringdon who I got the bike from. They were aware of the recall & of the compensation, which is based on a percentage of the price you paid for the bike. The service manager wasn't sure of the exact amount without checking the...

Anyone have an external GPS mounted on their B/TC?

This is the setup on my VN1600, it is a garmin nuvi 54 sat nav in a waterproof cover bought on e-bay. It uses a RAM "U" bolt handlebar mount & ball to ball connector. I had to make an adapter plate for attaching the waterproof cover to a suitably sized ball mount. Power can be sourced from a...

It might be worth discussing with your wife about the choice of TC or B versions. My wife loves the backrest on the TC.

BMW Motorrad Battery Charger Plus issue

As the battery leads use the plug from the charger It would appear that the sockets on the bike are wired wrong, Do you have any way of checking the polarity of the onboard sockets? I would suggest trying to use something powered by the socket, the downside is the strong possibility of...

ASC (automatic stability control) indicator question >>>

Manuals are written by technicians, & worded to keep any legal claims at bay. A good way to look at things like ABS & ASC, is they are classed as either safety aids, or driver aids, and are on by default at vehicle start up.

ASC (automatic stability control) indicator question >>>

I assume that it is the same as on the TC, the ASC becoming active after after doing a self test when you first pull away. I expect the button is there for you to cancel ASC when wish too.

    R18B & TC Headlight

They had received an email from BMW ref the headlight issue. Basically telling them to check the adaptive headlights when bikes are brought in for servicing etc. I shall keep asking them about the situation when I have reason to pop in.

    R18B & TC Headlight

When I had my bike serviced, Bahnstormers in Farringdon were aware of the headlight issue. Last time I was in there I asked but no further news on a fix. Mine is still working properly, & very useful on the country lanes on the ride to work in the morning.
