I too really liked the look of that seat but in reality I doubt it will be any more comfortable than the original Classic seat. I changed my seat to the day rider which has made a tremendous difference. I may have my original seat reupholstered as I do like that too but can't abide the torture...

The Day Rider is a great compromise when it comes to comfort and the lines of the bike. For longer journeys, just add a pair of cycle shorts to the mix.

Sounds like you have been unlucky. Hope its sorted soon. As for me, in my ignorance I haven't ever done as suggested by you. Thinking about it I do turn off the engine before putting it on the stand but that's about it.
