Question TC Gauge Failures?

I stalled my TC today at a traffic light. When I did a fast restart, both the fuel gauge and power reserve gauge seemed to re-zero themselves in mid stroke. Now they are both indicating wildly inaccurate. With power off, the fuel gauge shows 3/8 and the power reserve meter shows 5%.
I did note the the computer range to empty doesn't seem to be affected, so it doesn't seem to be a sensor issue.
Has anyone experienced any thing like this?

I haven't experienced anything along these lines; however, one idea would be to disassemble the dash and disconnect the wire harness and see what the gauges read, or potentially remove the ground wire ( - ) Negative lead from the battery.

Let the bike site for a minute or two before restoring power, then see if anything changes..

I tried your suggestion this morning...no joy. Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to the shop it goes. Should be warranty work.

I have the experience with Wunderlich rev counter. It was stuck on 3500 when rain penetrated inside. I was close to buy a new one but then i found that it can be recalibrated by powering on and off. It slowly moved back to zero and it's ok again. Not sure if this can help you. If it is under warranty, go to the shop

Thanks! I hope it will be this simple. Even with the dealer doing the work, things can get damaged with intrusive work like disassembling the dash to replace instruments.
I used to work in a business where we discovered our periodic maintenance routines were actually reducing the reliability of equipment! We were wearing equipment out with inspections and testing!

Update: Fuel and Power Reserve gauges have magically fixed them selves over time. Weird. Maybe some kind of static charge that had to bleed off?

The same thing happened to me today, except my battery took a s#1t. Had to be replaced. After the new battery was installed, the gas and reserve power gauges were wonky and the reserve power gauge was going counter clockwise from the 6 o'clock position. What was the fix?.

Maybe try removing the windshield, the fairing dash (2 screws in the two corners) and try re-seating the analog gauge wiring and making sure that they're all secure.

Taking the dash apart is super easy...

Ok update to the issue. The issue corrected itself after leaving the bike overnight. Very weird. Thank you for your tips...

It's possible the system didn't get through all of is checks and that's waht screwed things up with the "fast restart".

What caused the issue..?? A dead or dying battery..??

Or a crazy ride through torrential rain..?
