I have the Wunderlich bobber seat ordered and on the way. Plan on keeping the stock 100yr fender. Anyone out there with mid to longer term review of the seat? Specifically, it looks like I could install poly spacers under the base plate mount if I wanted to get an additional .5 to .75 inches of seat height. Would this be feasible? Did several forum searches but nothing useful cam up. TIA! 6700 miles and counting, go ahead and discontinue, makes mine more valuable, and still loving everything about this overengineered freight train !!

Sounds like a good plan. Take pics and tell us how it works out. I want a bobber seat with the stock rear fender too. I would like to see what that mounting plate looks like mounted before you put on the seat.BMW R18 P.jpg

This is from the Wunderlich website. 2 large fasteners at the rear of the seat, and one at the front I think…
I like your front light setup. That’s OEM correct? Did your bike come with them or did you do it as a mod? Wondering how much of a PITA adding those would be…..

NIce.... I cheaped out at the time and just got the homage, but find that style of seat with original fender works and looks great.

I thought a rack worked well with the look....heaps more practicle day to day then the bobber with moving mudguard.

My lights came on the bike new. The headlight is adaptive and the auxiliary lights are LED. No high/low in the auxiliary lights. I think the windshield is considered the low version. And the pro height bars, loudspeaker , reverse, bags etc. The dealer called it the Dark Nomad Package. About the seat, I am wondering if other seats would fit the Wunderlich mounting plate? It looks like where the seat attaches at the front might be somewhat universal? Maybe?

That looks fantastic. I was looking to upgrade to the Bobby seat. How do you find the comfort? Is it ok on 150 mile+ days??

Generally, intially I thought of it as a 1 hour bum comfort seat..... so 2 to 3 hour ride with a break in the middle. I got a sheepskin cover made that has 20mm of gel under it for longer rides. After a while.... I started to ride without the sheepskin as the plain homage seat looked "cooler".... and I now find the homage seat fine for longer rides (go figure). Anyway I am thin.... and love the higher more upright seat position.... easy to move your butt around as well. My seat is raised about 1" on springy bushes for a bit more seat give.... knee and hip angle is no 1 and 2 for me.... then bum. I also run a wilbers rear shock.

With sheepskin

So I just “deciphered” the Wunderlich instructions and installed my new bobber seat. I won’t bury the lead: transformative, beautiful, comfortable, perfect…..I could not be happier, It got me slightly higher up, which really helped my leg/footpeg geometry.
Having said that…JFC. They need to hire some people that speak English as a first language and add some words to their pictogram installation instruction!s! They are not great…..and the installation itself is WAY more fiddly than you’d expect. Additionally, a critical piece (the spacer that silts under the rear 10 mm bolts) was only 6 mm ID, so I had to replace it at my local hardware store. No big deal - I added about 10 mm extra height at the front of the seat as well, and I’ll post some pics tomorrow. I LOVE THIS SEAT!

I know exactly what you are saying. Even after 25 years of living here I struggle with the germanglish 🤣 but then my bastardization of German is not much better!
Adding the passenger seat should have been so much more straight forward.

I just changed out my BMW homage seat to the Wunderlich seat. I do not like the Wunderich seat. I expected it to be more comfortable so I will be going back to the homage seat.

Did you have to change mounting plates too? Do you have stock fender or bobber? I'm looking for a mounting plate that fits some of the many Harley style seats. its the front of the mounting plate, where it pivots, bolts to the seat. I have the stock fender and I want a bobber seat mounting plate and seat.

Yes I did. The Wunderlich saddle comes with the mount. A few years ago, I purchased the homage saddle w/ adapter that fits with the original OEM rear fender. Recently, I put the Wunderlich rock bob rear fender on w/ side license plate mount. I just purchased the OEM homage seat adapter for the bobber kit (from Latvia). They're hard to find. I will sell the homage seat mount for the OEM rear fender.
