2025 Brooklyn Grey ‘Blacked Out’
I have a 2025 model in Brooklyn Grey and it’s the ‘Blacked Out’ version.
I’ve owned a lot of bikes which have all consisted of cruisers or naked/streetfighters. This is what I’ve learnt about my R18 after only travelled 400kms so far….
The quality is exceptional compared to my Japanese and Triumph bikes. They were good, this is excellent.
Don’t buy this bike if you don’t like attention. Even Harley owners want to snub it, but just don’t. I went to a bike meet and the constant positive response was humbling.IMG_5295.jpegIMG_5247.jpegIMG_5202.jpegIMG_5204.jpeg
The ‘too much weight’, ‘heat off cylinders’ are rumours made by those who don’t know or who weigh 60kgs and ride in shorts.
‘Rock’ mode is a whole new level of riding compared to ‘Roll’. Outstanding!!!
You have to own the bike when you pick it up off the side stand and also when you ride it, or it owns you.
The Motorrad 16L canvas/leather bags are fantastic.
The new rims, colour, exhaust, body (tank/guards/side covers), rear suspension upgrade, new seat, exposed front forks, extra torque and lower forks are 👍🏆😍.

I’ll update as I do more k’s. Stay upright and ‘Rock’ on.

Ahh, that sunshine, makes me jealous. We’ve had nothing but rain, damp, more rain, mucky roads for weeks now. Not even seen a blue sky either it’s so overcast. Longest day today thank goodness, at least tomorrow i can tell myself we are over the hill and better days are coming!

Yeah, but the 41 degrees Celsius forecast for Christmas Day after 39 for Christmas Eve gets tiring VERY quickly. No riding in that kind of weather and it lasts in Western Australia until at least mid March 😩💩🥵

The heat off cilinders is an old wives´ tale.
See my 10cts thread.

Even in shorts it is relative. If you feel the heat off of the R18 cilinders you would have the nuts freid by the rear Harley head. The Harley ecu would also have turned the wick down.
Lastly there was a reason that the US ministry of defense aske Hearley and Indian to develop a boxer twin desert sled. Guess what??

Jeez, that’s hot. Somewhere in between would be nice. It’s about 4 degC here, damp and properly manky.

It sums up half the year here and I ride in that kind of weather no problem. Long trousers and sleeves though to avoid getting sunburned.

Your nuts must be fried if you pay $10k extra for a Harley with less tech and lower quality. Each to their own, but OMFG!!!

point anyone making the stupid heat observation to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harley-Davidson_XA

The only reason HD never did an Ural (produce a BMW copy) was that the armed forces thought the Jeep more convenient.

p.s. to put the latter into context, the VW Kübelwagen was quite a good lightweight go anywhere. The Jeep was just produced in wáy larger numbers and bathed in the winner´s glory just like the HD WLA.
Despite the Kübelwagen being very good the German forces saw many roles for the BMW/Zündapp boxer sidecars.
The Ural/Dnepr and Chinese clones being produced in HÚGE numbers (just the Ural plant alone pumped out 190.000 annually in its hay days) all through the 20th C. says enough.

Btw the Ural factory (IMZ) also followed BMW into the cruiser game with the in 2003 released ´Wolf´.

“There’s only one Jeep”… that’s not in a workshop for repairs. I sold them new and they were the most complained about vehicle in Australia, as well as being very good looking vehicles!
I’m very much about the concept of “Ride whatever makes you happy”, just don’t hang crap on my bike and especially if you are riding the most ridiculed brand in motorcycle history (I will leave that argument up to others).
What else have I learnt so far…. My bike is best!!! 🏆

Harley opposed twin - WW2

Bonjour,

1942 XA made for U S Army but didn’t get contract

Army changed their minds because the Jeep fulfilled many tasks, so the expense was no longer justified. Indian was asked to make a prototype too btw.; the 841.
The point though is that the army díd recognise that the German boxer twins could deal with hot conditions whereas the US v-twins could not.
If thát does not settle this argument nothing ever will 😅
