The cases on the bagger are small, I had to get a smaller lunch and laptop bag in order to ride to work and still have issues. I guess I have to keep riding my K1600 to work and leave the R18 for pleasure

Are you kidding!! A rider can pack for a whole weekend in your R18 hardshell bags!! Maybe even a week if you pack old disposable underwear and socks

Yeah!!! I was highly disappointed the first morning I rode my R18 into work. Had to take my laptop out the bag input it in the side case naked and had to leave half my lunch in the garage and squeeze my lunch bag into the other side case..... Either way I was riding my R18 to work

Not very sexy post but today (well yesterday actually) I was in the garage and decided to finally take a look at the exhaust flappers underneath. Been curious for ages. Using a small torx headed tool I removed the single retaining bolt and plastic covers (easy) and sussed out the mechanism. I lubricated the moving parts and powered the bike up three or four times, all moved smoothly. Worst part was lying on a very cold concrete floor and trying to get under an already very low bike! If you ride in all weathers or often on very dirty roads I would deffo take a look from time to time because as protected as they are I can see how they could get gummed up. Out of sight out of mind and all that…..

I know for me cleaning-wise, I take some extra time out when performing the annual maintenance items (engine oil/filter, air filter, transmission fluid and rear wheel gear oil); this is an excellent opportunity to get up under the bike and get some cleaning in...

The impact of a small bag on one's lifestyle is very real.... my wife usually asks me to get some groceries on the way home, and with the smaller bag I could not fit in some cake that I'd bring home and hide in the garage to sneak eat later, I had to eat it at the shop before riding home. Now with the bigger bag I can return to my worse ways, and all is good with the world.

She is a fully focussed healthy eating vegan. As such, I live two lifes... the seen and the not so seen.

Of course, "the not seen" occasionally becomes the "caught out", this is the direct result of being retired, a real downside to the whole retired thing. Work was a sacred place where you could eat all the "outlawed" food and have your "sneaky parcels" delivered... ahh... the good younger days....

Turn Signals Part Deux ... as I mentioned in an earlier post, I don't like the diamond shaped turn signals ... too modern (IMO) a look for this classic cruiser.
I couldn't find red/red Kuryakyns so looked around and found these:

Fatecim brand ... never heard of, but so reasonably priced ( 2 of them for the price of one on sale Kuryakyn!) so I figured what the hell .. and gave 'em a try.
Now comes the huge surprise ... there are 4 wires going to the OEM turn signal ... and best I can tell that should be Ground, Tail light, Turn Signal and Brake light ... so I stuck a meter on it and got some really strange readings ... turns out the Yellow and Grey wire do absolutely nothing. Brown is ground (-) and the blue wire does everything!! (this is US models ... I know nothing about any other setup) I guess BMW decided to just dim the LEDs for the running light and then ramp them up when brake or turn signals are needed ... go figure .. that blew my chance to use the 'Ring' feature of these lights .. but I still love them and they are a bit longer than the Kuryakyns which looks great for the rear.
Enough talking .. now to the 'Arts & Crafts' part.
I made some adapters so I can fasten them just like the OEM lights




Then painted them 'Satin Black' to mach





And installed them ... I did cut the plug off the OEM signals so I can do the same disconnect as BMW did.

I installed the Wunderlich shifting pegs, and they're definitely much larger than stock. The heel shifter is a lot easier to use now. Note how the front one also has a much thicker base, so the whole peg shifts to the left. It works fine for me, but the OEM front peg would work fine too.

I installed a Kuryakyn (p/n 5956) peg for my foot brake. The hardest part was locating the proper screw - it requires a 5/16-24 - 3/4" socket cap screw and I had to buy a pack of 10. Overall I really like it, a lot easier to feel and control. It is longer than the stock one, and has more grip. The dealer wanted $230 for the foot piece that is about 1/2" longer than the stock one, this cost me about $35.

Added the wunderlich lowered footrests. Supposedly 1” lower without changing lean angle. Super easy install and much more comfortable than the stock pegs. A little pricey at $600 but feels better when I say $300 each.

This maybe the solution I was looking for to provide stability and comfort w/o having to change from foot pegs to stock floorboards. That is pricey even at $300 a piece for foot pegs

Added the driver backrest that I purchased from a member here on the site!! Thanks to laennecr! Dont mind the missing slip ons..... they are going to be replaced with the prorace system in about 1 week!

Hopefully these will go through. I was concerned that the Corbin Solo seat would be too wide and out of proportion to the bike but with Mr Ulrich’s support, I decided to order it. It actually accentuates w the wide cylinder heads!!

Does this seat move you forward?
That might be what I need.
I keep sliding back in the stock 2 person seat.

I am not sure if it does. It looks like it all the way back against the rear fender. The very bottom base of the seat is 7” to the mounting screw on the fender. I am sure that Corbin can also cushion it to seat you forward more if you need it. I am getting the backrest late this week or early next week. I need it to support me forward just a bit or move the mini ape handle bar back. I hope I answered your question.

Yes I saw it. I just think the titanium look is very unique. I love the blueing of the welds also.

I took the stock windshield off and fitted the wind deflector today. The stock windshield is horrible for buffeting. I don't mind the wind in my face in the summer months, but the buffeting is terrible. I have a 7jurock tall screen coming for the long trips and colder days.
