There was a post in R18 group on facebook selling a brown Day-rider seat from Bruce John. Price was $150 for new, never used seat. Had a voice call with him and the voice didn't match his profile pic. Also, the facebook profile was created recently with only two pics, no comments and only he liked his own pics. Deal seemed too good to be true. Apologies to Bruce John if he is legit......

Another seat scam. I had such a good experience buying a speedometer form a forum member a couple weeks ago, I almost got complacent this time. Seller had a very good price and I was about to Venmo. Then something seemed off when he pursued the sale more than I pursued the purchase. Then I took notice of his forum stats. Pic below. Be careful my friends.

Fecking Jesus, glad you spotted this one out.
Some scammers are clever, that is the reality of things. There is little you can do to prevent those scum bags from creating fake profiles but always trust your gut, that is your first line of defence. If it looks like sh*t and smells like sh*t, chances are it is sh*t. Always pay via Paypal and never ever use the “pay a friend or relatives” feature. They may try to persuade you and say compelling things, but the reality is that you are parting out with your money to someone you don’t know, therefore you don’t owe the guy anything and need to protect yourself. Never fall for any pressure or rushing tactics, that is a big red flag.

The name is also a red flag, Bruce John. Whenever I see a name like that or something like Alex Harry, Frank Billy, or two names that don’t typically go together I get suspicious.

I’ve had tremendous luck on here buying from maybe four different members now. Sucks that even a niche place like this isn’t immune to bad actors.

I always flag poor sentence structure.....call me old fashioned..

I've done the PayPal "friends" thing, it has worked out for me so far.

I have bought lots of stuff for my R18 from folks on this forum and have had a 100% success rate; the admin should have a rating that forum members can rate each other when R18 goods are exchanged amongst other forum members.. sort of like eBay, where you can view someone's profile and ratings from others..

I have found lots of folks on this forum with "the stuff", manners, ethics, sense of humor, etc.. I myself, try to contribute as much as possible in technical areas as a way of giving back..

I have dealt with a growing number of scammers over the years. Common denominator.....poor sentence structure as Star-L noted.
