The post from Facebook was mentioning the OEM Engine guard bars from BMW not the Wunderlich partsBy "motor guard" do you mean the large tubular engine protection bars like here?

I have a black version of their Engine Bar on already already. They expect a new batch of engine bars to be available soon.

I just ordered one of these. Should arrive in 5-10 days. The DK design one looks massive with it's 38 mm diameter.
And is made out of polished stainless steel.
I like it better.
Dunno yet though if i'll install one, I love the naked engine.

Please tell us what you think and pictures lots of pictures. This is the one I will order if I am unable to get the chrome OEM BMW unit.I just ordered one of these. Should arrive in 5-10 days.
I think having their logo on their part is no worse than any other company brand. Much stronger design than the other bars out there atm .It's a shame that they force you to carry their advertising. But they are good looking engine guards.
I have a set of black engine guards ordered from Pier City Custom. But they are not going to be here soon.
Dave, could you post additional photos please? The Dk design engine bars were easy to fit , very nicely finished. They had logo laser etched bolts and the tubes were 3mm thick .
I tip my hat to anybody duly double-jointed to get their feet onto R18 engine guards. We call them crash bars in South Africa, probably also in the UK.The only downside with the tubing is it seems footrest brackets don't exist in 38 mm. but only in 25/32 mm.
For those who want to extend their legs on it.
But, I'm thinking about a solution with 3D printing ...
Wow. One of the main reasons I bought this bike was the leg rests option. Made the r12c a pleasure to ride. Bummer of crash bars and leg rests are not available.

It is all smoke and mirrors still at this point. Three weeks ago, BMW SA gave me a price on both the engine protection bar set (part number 77 14 9 446 054) and leg rests for rider (part number 77 25 2 469 391) but could not yet advise an ETA for any 'retrofit' parts and accessories for the R18.Wow. One of the main reasons I bought this bike was the leg rests option. Made the r12c a pleasure to ride. Bummer of crash bars and leg rests are not available.
Would you mind sending me the link for Pier City Custom? ThanksIt's a shame that they force you to carry their advertising. But they are good looking engine guards.

would need an ape-hanger, in horizontal mode, to achieve that....I tip my hat to anybody duly double-jointed to get their feet onto R18 engine guards.
