Transcontinental - Speaker mesh removal.

Who’s removed this on a Transcontinental? I’ve read that you pry from inside and should lift out. Doesn’t want to budge and l don’t want to force it. Am l on the right track ? Thanks.

New approach ; did manage to remove grill , however cannot remove speaker through grill. Have separated pannier lid from internals containing speaker.

L side speaker / amp removed. R side pannier lid without speaker. No need to remove panniers from frame when doing job.

Whatcha working on.. losing weight, making more storage or replacing with new audio equipment?

I've wondered what material the rear speakers use, especially on rainy days.. where does the rain water go..??
 
Losing weight. So far with deletions and additions , 22kg saved. Under the external speaker grill is solid padding. May be a waterproof barrier ; reason thinking along these lines, if water got in, it would pool on top of speaker. If not waterproof with speaker removed, will cover base of speaker cage with removable plastic cover ( in case of water ingress ).

I've removed the stick-on reflectors off of the two side cases and front fork legs, removed the engine protection bar and the attached TC lower leg wind protection fairings; I'm mostly going for a "cleaner" or simple look.. I'm sure I will instantly regret the engine protection bar removal, right after I drop my bike...

The sound system was one of the main attributes for getting a bagger.. I have no plans in removing and or even upgrading the sound system, it works well for how I use it while out riding..

Thanks for posting the pictures.. now I know what's under the grills..

Not yet. Will replace with same LiFePO4 in my FE Pure R18 when original lead battery dies. Before removing front speakers from Transcontinental, need to contact BMW techs to see if any codes initiated by this modification. Rear speaker removal has not caused any issues.
