Thumb Screw for Seat

2022 R18B
So, I end up taking my R18B seat off fairly often between front sheepskin, rear sheepskin, and a wild ass cushion. I can't even remember where I asked, but someone sometime ago said the bolt that holds the R18B (and I assume the TC) is an M6x20mm. I searched around for a knurled thumb screw equivalent, and didn't find anything particularly promising. Has anyone else swapped it over? If so, a link or something would be awesome. Thanks!

I couldn’t find any metric screwed bobbin so made one (i.e. bodged it). The bobbin in the photo used to be on my Dyna that I had about 15 years ago. Finally found a use for it!

Obtain a M6 x 20mm fully threaded bolt, place it in a vice and cut the head off taking care not to muller the threads.

Then take a HD imperial chrome bobbin or whatever ebay special it is you like, grip the thread firmly in the vice and unscrew it completely so that you just have the bobbin itself. Toss that imperial threaded bolt you don’t need it now.

Then using super glue or gorilla glue (whatever you have) cross thread the metric one back in its place. Again try not to muller the threads by squeezing the vice too hard, just enough to grip is all you want. The bobbin is likely to be a very soft metal (aluminium or chromed chinesium) and there’s no strength needed really so it works, very well actually. I hope this makes sense, it really isn’t complicated even if i make it sound so.

You could tap a new metric thread but don’t think it’s necessary really. Just another option for you 🤷‍♂️

If anyone has spied anywhere to get the bagger seat screw surround/baseplate, please let me know as my screw on my TC-B conversion is looking very lonely!

I procured an R18B Rear Cover from my dealer MAXBMW for a project last year, it's a magnificent piece.
Underneath are 4 supports with small rubber (like a silicone) bumper beads.
