Anyone bought a Chigee setup and have opinions to share? The dang ads got to me. I'm particularly interested in what people think about the one with the front and rear cameras. Is the quality good? Is the screen big enough for easy navigation? Thanks!

I had a Carpuride 702B on my GS. 7” screen that fitted straight into BMW Nav cradle. It was good but after 6 months or so parts of the screen became unresponsive that meant you couldn’t use the search on Waze. All the firm/software was up to date & resetting it made no difference. Also any updates have to be done manually, downloading the latest update to a micro sd card. They have brought out a new model that enables the whizzy wheel on certain BMW’s to be used & I think updates are now done over WiFi but I’m m not totally sure about that.
So I bought a Chigee AO5 lite for my GS. This is a 5” screen that again mounts straight into the BMW Nav cradle & you can use the whizzy wheel. Much better quality all round with a more responsive screen that auto dims too (Carpuride didn’t do this).

My experience with these has been on my GS & as I’ve said both units used the existing BMW Nav cradle so no wiring was required. So I can’t vouch for them on other bikes nor on having to wire them in.

This may be of use.

Carpuride 603. Been using it since Sept and its flawless and responsive.
Ditto! I got the version with the dash cams.
Are you all satisfied with the screen size? My concern is glancing down at the screen and not being able to clearly see the map features due to a small screen. The 6" actually looks like a good size relative to the handle bars. At least that's how it seems from the pictures you posted, @ad78.

How about the video quality?

For the screen size, the colors are rich and perfect for maps. What do you mean video? No plans to get killed. No video on carplay

Your plans for death are your own.. now when it comes to video quality of the cameras that come with the some of these kits, I'm interested. In fact, good way to catch someone trying to kill you on the road 😂 I saw a youtube review on the model you two have (Carpuride 603; specifically the kit that comes with the two cameras) and it looks like they can clearly capture license plates within at least 10-15 feet. Would like to hear about users' personal experience, though.

Haha could you imagine the headline on that one? “Rider dies on I-95 watching Youtube video titled ‘10 ways you’re not riding to stay alive’”

Anyway, I figured it might be a good idea to get cameras given how people drive around us in the U.S., you know?

@Rambler358 any thoughts on camera footage quality?

Thanks again for the feedback all. I decided to get the Carpuride W702 Pro while it was on super-sale during February. I think I got it for like ~$270. Going to install it soon and hopefully have it up and running by the weekend.

dude 702 is the older one. should be 712

712 comes with dash cams + handlebar mounted wireless controller, 702 without. I got the 702

So I’ve found CarPlay limited when it comes to navigation apps like inRoute and MRA Next. Developers are limited to using the template that Apple provides. And with the Connected App’s navigation in its current (bad) state, and not wanting to spend big bucks on a Garmin XT or XT2, I opted to get a used rigid Galaxy Tab Active 5 and run MRA Next (My-Route App) on it. I would’ve preferred an iPad mini but screen brightness out in the sunlight is subpar, and it’s not ruggedized.

The Android tablet is on the left handlebar and the Carpuride W603D on the right. I have a 4 day trip coming up this weekend, and I’ll be using MRA on the tablet as my primary GPS with CarPlay as the backup just in case.

download offline maps on your iphone where you going. that way when your phone is out of coverage the carplay will not get interrupted.

Offline maps were never an issue. My point with using the Android tablet was to have MRA running natively, without the restrictions CarPlay has.

@Rambler358 I'm curious how the trip went with the Android & MRA-Next? Did you end up falling back to using the Carpuride?

I use MRA heavily for route planning but, of course, use the BMW system for the actual navigation (for both my GS and R18). I'm not a big fan of the product and I'm entertaining the idea of getting something else (Chigee, etc.).

Unfortunately we had to cancel the trip. Planning a weekend trip in a couple weeks and will try it out then.

I got the Carpuride W603D mainly for the front and rear cameras, but the 6” screen for CarPlay is a nice bonus.
