BMW R18 100 Year Edition
Has anyone installed this on their machine?

No performance figures given but I am curious and on the fence for purchase.

Sooooo I’ve been looking for something like this as I’ve only seems it on the FCR stuff but they just said they don’t sell it and it’s only reserved for their bikes…. But this is news !!

Now if somebody could make them from Aluminum and an aesthetic throttlebody to go with it I would be game ...
been waiting for a while for somebody to make one like it is shown on the coffee table book ...

Something like this ... just 'shinier' and with an air filter ;)

Yeah it’s a rip off if plastic.

Even if it were 1/2 that I wouldn't pay that for plastic... MAYBE $600. TOPS if it were cast alum.

You'd think they do a focus group or something to define a price point how to sell the most.

... considering that the original ones (without the metal shield) are about $300 for the pair ...

If someone gets hands on the plastic and uses sand to cast… then metal.. maybe possible? But hard idk.

There is no discuting taste so that is what it is.
Fúnctionally; for the efficiency, once warmed up plastic or whatever is irrelevant.
The bright side is that the R18 electronics is capable to adjust to a wide range of mods including this.
The less bright is that it will make little if anything more than a sports filter element and additional air intake. I would wager it will over the rev range be léss efficient than the standard air box.
It will also make a hell of a lot of intake noise.
