It's that time of year in the mid-Atlantic. Hot and humid. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I'm really a ATGATT guy, but I don't ride without a jacket of some sort with armor. That means uncomfortably hot typically.

I'm usually not a sucker for ads that get served up while I'm online, but I ended up going for this:

Highly recommended. The mesh is highly breathable, the armor is decent and all-in-all seems like a good compromise.

On my way home from the Tail of the Dragon yesterday we saw a couple of guys riding in non-vented jackets that would have been about right in 50 degrees. But it was 90!
I'd like to be an ATGATT kinda guy, but.... NO WAY! I've got a couple of mesh jackets with armor and I try to use them when it gets toasty out there. But I WILL leave the jackets in the locker when it gets this hot!

Klim Marrakech jacket is great in hot weather and still offers a ton of protection. Great cut and extremely comfortable.

I'm thinking of getting the KLIM tactical undergarments; I hate riding with pants that have protection pads built in - I find them extremely uncomfortable

A friend came off at 30mph wearing denim jeans and jacket. He lost 1/16th inch of skin in a very short slide. He was in agony. It was a really hot year here and despite that I started started wearing full leathers (it was the early 90s) and about a week later I came off at 60mph in a long slide and I didn't even have a scratch. I now wear a mesh short jacket in hot weather or an armoured shirt (which is much warmer that the mesh, but much cooler looking) together with armoured jeans.

Agreed on mesh jackets being cooler than no jacket. I have a Revit Eclipse jacket, and it's cooler than bare arms, at least while moving. At a stand still, it's probably warmer.

Now, add a back protector or backpack to that mesh jacket and it is definitely not as cool as riding in a t-shirt. Even the vented back protectors make for a sweaty back.
