I still use the built-in phone cradle in the gas tank and in-screen navigation system, but that may change soon.

Really not loving that BMW's navigation system doesn't have real-time traffic monitoring and auto-route redirection like Google maps or Waze does. On several occasions, I've had to pull over, pull my 🤬 phone out of the cradle, open Google maps to find an alternate route, then program the BMW navigation app to use THAT route.

I really WANT to love the BMW navigation app...I REALLY, REALLY want to! But BMW's making it so hard!!!

Anyways, I know that was absolutely NOT constructive to this thread, but just needed to vent a little.

I originally had the RAM mount with the MagSafe charger. That did not work well. Depends on you placing an Apple branded MagSafe charger inside the holder with a plastic plate for water protection. That worked very poorly. Throughput was low, and it was really fiddly to get the phone and charging plate seated right to where it would actually transmit power. Any vibration or movement would also pop it out if place and charging would cease.

I kept the RAM mount, which is great, chrome version and all but mounted the Quadlock Charging Mount with the rubber suspension option behind it. That works very very well. The rubber suspension also stops the camera on the apple from failing. (That happened on our NY to LA and back trip, a real pain). Just, if you see the phone begin to shake more than usual it is time to tighten the bolt keep it all together

Very pleased with my quadlock qi-mount I mounted last week. I mount my phone horizontally. The charging is kind of slow, but it always charges and rain is no longer any issue.

During the ironbutt I did this summer we had some part with lots of rain. Water got in to the charging port and the iPhone refused to charge. No more of that with the qi-charger.

Chrome Quadlock looks quite good.

I'm a huge fan of Tackform mounts. They offer a great variety of mounting solutions and I've yet to come across a more solid built product.
I don't want a phone mount on my R18 but I use Tackmount on nearly all my other bikes.

Were you able to get the mount in a spot where your phone doesn't get in the way of the Speedo? Mine with my iPhone 14 Pro Max mounted has just a hair of phone over the Speedo in my vision. Its annoying. Went to horizontal mounting of my phone and it's better but I don't really like it compared to vertical.
Just realized I replied to a very old post.
