Roland Sands Throttle/Handlebar Grips

Hi all,

Bought a pair from dealership and doing some research on installation. Any idea? Mine is with heated grips.

I'm not 100% sure that the RSD grips are compatible with the R18 optioned with heated handgrips? I had my left hand grip on my GS Adventure fail, which required replacement of the entire handgrip with the embedded heating element.

Looking through the installation instructions, it does mention cutting away the existing grip and being careful not to cut into the "sleeve"; perhaps the sleeve is a separate heating element?

Unfortunately, you'll have to cut away the existing grip in order to understand if the heating element is integrated within the existing grip or separate and compatible with the RSD grips.

Maybe another forum member has upgraded their grips...?

I do not have the heated grips on my bike but did add the RSD grips.
Take your time and be very careful cutting away the original grip material. It is very easy to cut too deeply. And as usual BMW used gobs of adhesive to adhere the grips.

Yep... Says so in the installation manual..

This is water under the bridge since you already purchased the RS grips, but I have found "Grip Puppies" to be will worth their $15. I did not like the narrow stock grips and have found those Grip Puppies to fit the bill quite nicely. Will buy them again.

In the past I would always switch to the Kuryakyn Bumpy Grips for both feel and looks, but they don't work on my R18.

I got Grip Puppies for my wife and they get pretty scummy over time. They are cheap enough to replace regularly but she went back to leather grip wraps.
