R18b Handlebar Help Needed

I'm shocked that the electrical wiring isn't routed within the handle bars...

I'm shocked that the electrical wiring isn't routed within the handle bars...

Could it possibly be because they aren’t really thick bars… if not, something my mechanic might be doing next service

Thanks to the terrific feedback from contributors on this thread, I made the decision to go with the helibars. I’m thrilled with the upgrade. They put the bars exactly where I need them. The bike feels and handles smaller and lighter too. They were around $500 and came with the longer cables. I had them installed at my BMW dealership and the entire job, including the bars and installation, oil change, brake fluid change, and valve adjustment was $1,500.

Pictured below are the original bars, noting distance between bars and fairing, and comparison photos demonstrating the relief you get with helibars. I brought mine as far forward as possible.
