I just learned another wheel option is available for the R18. It is also from the BMW option 719 collection.
The first is what is shown above (aka ICON), the second is called AERO.
The ICON is a gloss black with machined radial lines. The AERO is a matte silver with machined radial lines.
I am really leaning toward the AERO.

Are they really white lines or exposed machined aluminum?

Your description is likely correct. They are certainly machined.

My icon wheels are gloss black…
I have the icons. gloss black and the lines are bare machined metal. Not sure I would pick them if they weren't already on the bike, but they look very nice.
