I don't have the 'Brentune' on my ride ... but when mine is hesitant in starting I take my GS-911 and reset the 'Learned Values' that usually clears that right up ... the gas mileage is lower for a couple of tanks but that will be re-learned ... just my ¢2
Do you (or anyone) know if the "Learned Values" can be reset using the OBDLink MX+ and the Motoscan app?

After reading this post I was tempted to drill out the baffles on my Classic and...

THE GOOD NEWS is it seems to have been done already (bought it pre-owned)... I could use a confirmation on it though. Could've been a little more precise to be centered.... however being that they are not noticeable to the eye unless you're laying flat on the ground I can learn to live with it.

THE BAD NEWS is my stock pipes (that I love) won't be getting any louder without additional mods or aftermarket slips ons/pipes.

I do have the Brentune applied, and on the fence about the Stage 2 DNA/K&N air filter but the concern of oil filters causing issues are holding me back from pulling the trigger on it. Considering either removing the plastic tubes on the stock air filter housing OR buying the metal frame only for DNA/K&N filter but using it with the OEM air filter (get rid of OEM plastic housing). Has anyone tried this method? Curious to hear your feedback.

Side question - my bike used to start on first attempt BEFORE the Brentune. now it requires two attempts. Has anyone else experienced this? I do not currently have the GS911 so any other tips or tricks would be appreciated.

Yep - they have already been drilled (y)

Just to share my experience. Drilled the baffles out of the stock mufflers of my r18b and rather disappointed. In rain mode, the rolls royce smoothness that I liked disappeared. In roll mode, it became almost similar to rock. In rock mode, the vibrations that were so annoying before almost disappeared. The sound became louder, but became sharp and rather unpleasant for the ear. In general, I would gladly return everything back to how it was. Thank God, there are big discounts on Vance&Hines exhausts now, and I have already ordered an exhaust for myself. Will not drill anything anymore))). Once again I get confirmation that designers know better.

What do you mean by drilling out the baffles? Are you talking about just the ‘disc’ at the end of the perforated end pipe or actually drilling out the whole baffle? Big difference.

I did mine earlier this year (mentioned in this thread somewhere already), just cut out the end disc with a hole cutter, very straightforward and was extremely happy with the subtle increase in volume without altering the nice tone. Guess it depends upon what you personally like, to some very loud is best but I’m not keen myself. Way too many horses and horse riders around me all the time (two busy stables and a kids riding school).

Ah ok, well I don’t recognize what you describe as results. I’ve done exactly the same thing and am more than happy with it. I only ever ride in Rock mode btw but it’s got a slightly louder growl yet remains refined in tone (to my ears anyway). Personally I don’t want a loud shouty bike and over here in the UK I would say that the vast majority of riders are the same. It’s unusual for me to come across a rider with an ear splitting exhaust, depends what you want of course, we are all different.

So idk if anyone is still watching this thread. But I just completed drilling out the baffles. While I was fishing out the drilled disc, I was wondering if I got a Dremel with a cutting wheel. Would it make a difference if I just cut out the whole baffle? I was looking in there with a snake cam, so the end baffle appears to be a completely separate piece from the main exhaust pipe. Has anyone tried to cut out the whole baffle yet? Do you think it would be worth the effort?

Seems like a lot of work to me for minimal result difference.

It has been done and there is a YouTube video of the process with before & after result. If you search you should find it. Personally I didn’t like the result the exhaust looked wrong and sounded unpleasant BUT in person it may have been completely different and we all want/like different things so not judging. The OEM exhausts will cost a small fortune to replace so I’d consider aftermarket pipes if you really want to go there. Plenty of forum members have swapped them out, again a search on the forum should find what you are looking for.

Done mány exhaust modes over the half century of motorbikes (and cars) and times have changed A LOT is this aspect.
Population density, traffic density, social (in)tolerance, laws and BigBrother make for almost paranoia when on wheels compared to say the seventies/eighties.

Mind, here in Spain it is a bit weird as the rules are strict, fines draconic and policing inflexible but actual enforcing is limited. So especially in the villages it is almost motoring anarchy.
In the local village over here there are 2 village plods whom live in the village. They work 40 hrs/week and again, live in the villages. That makes inforcement friendly and working hours only.
Also the Guardia Civil whom áre strict go on different patrol routine at night; for the country side basicall only on call from the neasrest city. It is audible that the local ´anarchists´ are aware :ROFLMAO:

I like to tour a bit further about with day light and despite the low chance of being caught the Sword of Damocles spoils fun.
Now most mods are difficult (servo delete) to impossible (repro) to detect but loud pipes draw attention and that is twice bad: Way more chance of being pulled over and fine guaranteed.
Also, a recent development is that traffic control cameras which appear on main roads as if strewn about from aircraft arefitted out with microphones. Pass with a too loud pipe and you will get the fine home automatically. Again a non-issue in the villages but go to see a movie and you get done for sure.

Mine has the imo beautiful tear drops and those are easily available cheap. As such been playing with buying a set and cutting them open, redesign the interior with a resonance chamber.
I have the flap servos deleted and the 900cc bangs are loud enough now really. Even when I ride with the puddin´basin they are audible over wind roar.

Next is fitting the Sprint filter, moderately opening up de cover and replacing the ´1800cc´ plates with honey comb. That will no doubt add induction sound.
