R18 REmap

Took my 23 Anniversary model in with 1700 miles to fix the reverse recall. Problem is, my bike has the Bren tune re map. So...I had to take it to a speed shop, remove the Bren tune map. Take it to BMW for the recall fix. Then back to the speed shop to re flash the Bren tune map.
But once BMW reset my bike, the Bren tune map wouldn't download. I needed a revised map.....for some reason.....so that took another few days and going back and forth in 100 degree weather on the nasty truck filled bumper to bumper freeways in Los Angeles.
A couple of thoughts; The bike runs a lot better with the Bren tune map. I also installed the high performance air filter.
The drawback in my opinion to the R18 is not enough power for what it is. I bought the bike for looks. And the build quality is excellent. But the bike for an 1800 is under powered. And this is why re sale on this bike is suffering. Why can't Motorrad send the bike out tuned properly?
Why can't they offer Stage improvements that can be done at the dealers? A mod of 25ft lbs of torque would make this a really nice ride. 35-50 lbs of torque would make these bikes hard to get, as few people would part with them.

Just sayin.....nice bike....looks good....too slow.....

Too slow? How fast do you want or need to go Randy? My bike pulls really well, cleanly from no revs to the top end, it feels strong and very torquey. It’s not crossed my mind ever that it needs aftermarket tuning. Are you locked into the Stage 3 Harley thing? That’s not really BMW’s corporate image but they already make absolutely mental bikes like the M1000R if you want to scare yourself to death.

Imo the ts is just winding us up.

The torque curve is not at all bad for an E5(+) compatible push rod OHV twin be that 1800 or what. Actually it is better than that of my much beloved MR2 Spyder with a same capacity Euro 3 spec DOHC 4 cil. water cooled engine with variable valve timing.

There are ofcourse marginal gains to be found because for used vehicles the periodic inspection norms have some leeway which the manufacturers for homologation do not have, but even for a remap there is basically no max power left on the table and the ts illustrates an important issue with remaps.
