R18 first edition steering damper

FE's spanned a few years.... the initial shipments (so "first" of the 2020 plated ones) didn't have cruise control or steering damp (in the Australian market anyhow)..... wiring loom was also "non compliant" with simply adding CC. FWIW My 3/21 plated FE also had both .... but as a 3/21 it was not the first of the R18s.

I'd always assumed it was a covid supply issue thing and something BMW did to just get the model launched.

I see ... mine is a '21 and was the first one in the area and intended to be the show/demo model ... it came will all options installed (Chrome package and all other options .. even the locking gas cap) ... lucky for me due to Covid and a fire that burned the dealership down she was never 'demoed' (5 miles on the counter) and I got a hell of a deal on it .. I guess I got lucky ;)
 
Yeah, i think the way they rolled them out help to confuse what a FE really is. Talking with the local dealer. The 20's were supposed to roll out after 1 Oct 2020 so the Roll Out year then would be 2021's because they go by fiscal year October to September like in the auto market. But a SNAFU happened. With a handful being sold before before 1 Oct 2020 them then called 2020 models. But it is interesting how something can fall under a certian yr model even when its production date can actually be a different date. .Mine was production month of October 2020 but is a 2021 model., registered the 1st time Sep 2022 and all papers state 2021. Doesnt really matter i love the bike period.
