R18 Delivered Thursday Night (8 Oct)

Finally received my first edition Thursday night with 8 miles on the clock. My first impression is that it feels good for a 760 lb motorcycle. It handles the curves pretty well and the torque is impressive. I put 47 miles on it Friday and another 37 miles today. So far, my only two less than positive comments are, 1, the seat is not as comfortable as I thought it should be. Maybe it will break-in as well. and 2, my boot keeps hitting something under the left cylinder when I want to downshift. I'm sure it is just a matter of getting used to the rising position because on the second ride I was more aware of the position of my boot and the downshifting was better. Overall, very impressed with the bike's look, the technology and the handling.

Congrats on the bike!

The seat should become more comfortable as it breaks in. From my recent memories, I can remember that my R1250GS seat had a constant pressure point for the first couple of thousand miles. Then it was gone.

As for the left foot, I found that if I slide my foot too far forward, it hits the side stand mechanism when trying to downshift.
I had an issue with my left leg hitting the left cylinder guard on the GS for the first day or two. Then I got used to it.

Just got the R18 back from the 600 mile service. Cost $182.56. Included oil and filter, rear drive oil change and "running in" check. Perfect timing as we have snow forecasted on Monday.

Starting to figure out the garage configurations for winter confinement and was wondering if anyone had researched which bike lifts (stands) would work with the R18?

The "Black Widow", marketing name for a generic species, is about the least expensive and more than adequate.
The R18 is on this lift in the avatar.
I have an earlier version of it that was sold by Harbor Freight 15 years ago, on line but never in the stores. Paid $480 for it then.
Have used it for Ducatis, Harleys, BMWs, Zero turn mowers, hell even use it in the maintenance of the Cessna 150.
Photo taken the night I rode the R18 home from Gateway BMW, 246 mies. In the background is the K1600B, R1200RT and the Cessna 150, all have spent time on this lift.
The helmet in the fore ground of the photo is on the lift.
