I'm strongly of the view... that a free'er breathing R18 (so in and out .... ie inlet and exhaust) is not an optimised R18. It 100% needs a tune to be optimised.
The R18 is pretty unique in that the system will autotune to OEM parameters. In other words it will adjust for modifications and the band width is about 20%. This is proven FACT. See p.e. the info from Roland Sands.

This does not negate any benefits one might experience from a remap; per example BT. This remap will alter the parameters. Because of the way the system autotunes, it will also do the same for modifications; stay within the parameters set by the remap.

The difference of opinion rises about the 'need'.
Technically it does not need a remap because the system will stay within the OEM settings. The fact it autotunes to remapped settings proves the point. In other words; with the modifications engine management system will adjust to running as per OEM.
Now whether one feels that the remap is a lot better is another matter.
'Optimised' is a tricky one as the factory program is optimised too and the system will maintain this level of optimisation for mods.
A remap for the stock bike will be optimised just the same way for modifications.
The crux is; does the stock bike need a remap? The answer applies undeminished to modified breathing as well.

My opinion is that the stock mapping is ok for me. My experience is that modified it indeed stays as per OEM, just more so.

Make that a claimed 20 hp @Ulrich
As it is about within the margins it is in the realm of possibilities. Roland Sands achieved the same without a remap.
There most likely is a more in it with a specific remap going outside of the legal parameters for emissions. That again also applies to an unmodified bike.
Mind; I do NOT imply that the BT goes outside legal parameters. As I understand it, it stays within the requirements for periodic inspection. This is where we get to the Ham-question; where does the BT finds gains? The answer is in the differences between homologation and periodic inspection. The former being far more extensive and more strict.
I have the same with my remapped car engine. No way it would pass homologation tests but it meets periodic inspection criteria.
That car remap is a third the cost of the BT and because it is a turbo engine has serious power gains by upping the turbo pressure* which is not possible with the naturally aspirated R18. * Under periodic test circumstances the running conditions are such that the max turbo pressure plays no role.
Hence for me a remap of an n.a. engine is in a different order of value for money. My other car is n.a. and has the stock mapping.

Fwiw, we really don't have a difference of opinion. You are happy with your bike, and I am happy with mine. No difference there.

And your are happy with the stock map etc. I was happy with the stock map with mine. No difference there.

I did a few mods and wasn't happy.... then added a tune and I was happy again!. I removed the tune and was not then happy with it. I report this not to get you to do anything, just as a second data point for the group info. I don't claim anything to be a fact.... at best everthing associated with the R18 is just someones opinion/story (I include Roland Sands in "not a fact".... just a story to be noted..... after covid I'm not sure we even went to the moon these days.....).

We differ even less: If the BT was 200€ all in, 250 TOPS and a solid install, I would go for it in an instant.

I mention Roland Sands because it is the best known and easy to find.
There are several owners who confirmed the autotune but yes anecdotal.

Bottom line is have fun with it!!

I will add... my mind is thinking about how I can make a couple of plates anyway! Could be a project for winter.

As an aside.... the brentune "dude" did mention on the r9t forum that the euro 5 (2021 on) r9t's didn't have auto tune "activated" ex bmw. But it was "activated" as part of their tune. Not sure what that meant for 2020, 2021 R18's etc .... (if it was true?) I never intended to het a tune for my R18.... however the improvement in my r9t to the low/mid range torque really surprised me.... as I almost stacked it mid corner after the tune. Anyway.... that led me to given their R18 one a try (post covid not travelling so cashed up!)

I say but so I say but nothing.

I was not retained by the C-word thing. Mind, I did of course respect the basics and safety of others.
Had a cycling competition excemption AND at the the time a girlfriend who worked at hospital admin so I had a medical appointment whenever/wherever. Only when the country was totally shut down (was a few weeks only) I was sort of limited. Still went for my morning coffee at the watering hole (on my training bicycle) which stayed open because it was dubbed a critical stop for essential transport.
Hence nooooo savings whatsoevvah.
Ah and had my vaccination certificate, of the one shot I could not avoid, printed on a sports T-shirt :ROFLMAO: but the reason for that is not for a public forum 😇

I've tuned my cars in the past and I've always said that going BACK to stock from a tune is when you generally notice the difference more.

I've had the BT tune on mine since November so haven't ridden the bike since due to weather here ... hope I notice a difference come spring time as it's been so long.

Right. My appologies for the delay. That was an Odyssee

First the floods, then limping up the hill, next their system refused the USA so they had to call head office.
Anyway, shipping costs:

USA: 18.39€ (1 or 2 sets same cost)
Australia: 19.72€
UK: 12,43€

Will declare it as free plastic sample prototype.
I will cover the bubble envelopes as it is sample prototype 😉

€38.39 shipped to U.S, correct? If correct, how would you like to arrange payment?

Looking forward to hearing results from those that purchased the plates.

Btw, are the instructions to remove that small snorkel as well? Then install the free flowing plate?

correct; paypal friend would be perfect

living in a mountain village has its peculiarities; can post the Monday at the earliest,

Petrus, I prefer to use the Paypal Goods & Services. I will include their fee so that you don't have to absorb that cost. The last I knew, it was 3%. That would total €42.23.
Is this acceptable?

your shipping address incl. tel number please (is important!)

New R18B owner here. I'm very interested in how the side air intake from Petrus works out for those that have purchased it. More air should mean more power!
