2023 r18b, 2024 S1000rr, 2021 Harley Sport Glide
I didn't see any personal feed back on the forum about the fairing speaker upgrade that they offer. Does anyone actually have their setup installed on here? Looking to increase the front speakers output and clean up the output some also.
 
Ahh... a third party accessories provider ... I haven't seen too many post about these systems and or post regarding the sound system overall.

One forum member looked at swapping out the rear sub speaker within the rear case; however, the larger magnet required cutting up the rear side case and eating up much needed case real estate..

I love streaming music while I'm riding, it helps to past the time, especially on long road trips... I'm pretty practical about the fidelity that I'm going to get while riding my bike; the bar is set pretty low considering wind at 70+ mph, not in an enclosed space and overall real estate to install hi-fidelity components..

The Marshal system is one of my favorite attributes about the Model B.
 
Yeah I like the system, I just wish it had a little more volume with clarity. When it gets to the point of being the right volume on the highway it has already hit its limit. Be it the limit of the speakers or the limits of the amp. In that vendors videos he even states that changing the subs are minimum gain without hacking up the bags. They even offer a kit for putting speakers in the leg air deflectors (I did add the Chinese knockoffs to my bagger). I was hoping someone had used the fairing speaker and amp upgrade for some feedback. They aren't that far away (3 hour ride 1 way) and the wife is out of town this weekend, but I do have a couch coming in sometime on Saturday.... Hhhmmmm
 
I've always been wondering about the use of speakers, except ruining the tranquillity of the neighborhood....
Do you realise the level to reach to be just audible at Highway speed?
Helmet earphones provide high quality sound and much more like GPS direction, phone calls...
On the bagger/ TC, it also ruins the bags capacity.🙄.

I use helmet com systems but I prefer the speakers when on the highway. The bike will pass calls and everything to the helmet as needed or commanded to do. I mean I don't go blasting music though the neighborhood on the bike lol. The bags are so small on the TC and Bagger, my HD bags are so much larger and easier to access. Also if the wife is riding it's easier to use the speakers than to pair and share the music via the phone to 2 different Bluetooth devices that drop connection at every stop and have to be reconnected. Then there is the battery life of the comms unit in the helmet. I rode for almost 9 hours straight the other week and I don't see my HJC built in comms system battery lasting that long doing music and calls. It's ok not to like speakers, I didn't care for them untill I used them.
 
I've never owned a bike with speakers and have always used in-helmet comms units (Cardo Edge for example) along with earplugs to listen to music (or communicate with fellow riders).

Do people still use earplugs while listening to bike speakers?

Without the earplugs, surely the wind noise drowns out the music, no? Then again, the earplugs gotta filter out the music so which is it?

You need to ride a TC or a bagger with the air deflection on the fairing and leg air deflectors also. I can wear a hoodie and the draw strings hardly budge. Wind and wind noise becomes a non issue. I do wear ear plugs on the other bikes because they don't have wind protection like the R18B does, at least the way I have mine setup.

I rarely, if ever, use the sound system on this or any of my other bikes. I don't like blasting it so loud that the guy 3 cars down can hear it. I've tried Senna, and a multitude of other earbuds and by far, the best that I have found are the new Apple airpods 3 Pro. My hearing sucks as it is so none of the afore mentioned systems worked for me unless they were turned up full blast, and even then I lost much of the sound quality as speed increased, basically highway speeds. The Airpods in adaptive mode have been the solution for me. A plus is they also work as hearing aids :p . Yes, I'm that dad that's alway struggling to hear people speak and "huh" all the time (it annoys the crap out of my wife and kids :ROFLMAO: ). Anyway, the Airpods are even good with my half helmet at blocking out ambient noise, even at highway speeds, while still letting me hear important stuff like sirens, horns, etc. without having them blasting in my ear. I've actually been able to turn the volume way down to normal levels. When I'm stopped they adapt automatically and still let me hear people talking to me. They're amazing!.

If I ever was to buy an R18B I'd prefer the ones without the sound system as with the bags small enough as they are, the speakers there just take up more room.

Those are rare though.

The speakers don't really occupy much space in the bag. The shape and the way the bag was designed with the inner liner in more of an issue. They do follow the lines of the bike, they just aren't very practical. That's why I added the passenger seat with luggage rack from Poland. Man we all got way off topic lol. Maybe someone will chime in that bought the audio system.
