22 R18B
New to the Forum and hoping for some answers; (MOA R18 forum is dead as far as responses to questions). Seeking advice on extra lighting and best crash bars. Have had the bike for a week. I was riding a 22 S1000xr which I will blame on a Geezer Brain Fart. WAY too tall and constantly spitting me off at stops if I didn't have the the front wheel angled just right and had the audacity to even LOOK at the front brake. Over $5000 damage from 2 fall overs under 3 mph. Also got tired of the hyper nature of the engine. 73 yrs old and riding since I was 12. The nature of the new (TO ME) bike is entirely relaxed. It is a 22 Service Loaner which had just over 2000 miles on it. The weight takes some getting used to, though after roughly 400 mi, It seems to be less intimidating. Anxious to ride at night to see how the headlight performs. Looked for the OEM auxillary lights (fog and spot) but googled them 6 ways to Sunday and could find nothing whatsoever. Ran Clearwaters on an R1200RT and they proved spectacular, though It seemed that they had a fitment for everything BUT the 18B. any advice, tips or death threats are welcome. Many Good Miles to all!

Welcome to the forum. I’ve got right about 400 miles on my recently acquired R18 100 Year Edition. No help for you other than to provide a warm welcome.

Enjoy your new machine!

Welcome to the forum.
I don’t have auxiliary lights on my R18B but I do have a set of OEM engine crash bar which had prevented damages to the bike in the 2 occasions I dropped the bike at low speeds. I can’t fault them tbh.

Welcome to the forum. I have a 21 R18 FE. I have OEM engine case guards which were easy to install and high quality there are many options out there many less expensive and all seem to provide adequate protection. I installed Clearwater lights and Billy lights to the rear using CANopener, IMG_2866.webpinstallation was not that difficult but not for someone without mechanical aptitude. I am sure they have options for your R18B.

Welcome aboard... I would try using the search function on the forum; there's a LOT of really great contributors within the forum, with lots of good examples and information on the various topics that you're asking about..

Let's see a picture of the new ride...

I have a Model B; however, I've added a lot of the wind management attributes of the TC (Transcontinental), including the OEM Auxiliary Lights..

I'm relatively new to this site myself. Have been riding Goldwings for the last 25 years but at 70 I decided a change was in order so bought a Trans America that caught my eye. Love it....weight is very similar to the G'wing. Had a R75/7 many years ago.

May I recommend Rigid Industries as a source for your front lighting. They have many choices and it would be best to go to their website. I saw an advertisement recently that Toyota is using Rigid Industry lights as fog lights in their new 4Runner. I had them on my last G'wing for several years....never burned out, were very bright and had no problems with moisture, etc. I used them full time as running lights.

Hope you enjoy your new bike....ride safe.

Sorry....I bought a Trans Continental....although there was a nice Trans America on the showroom floor nearby.
