Mirrors are too low (way too low) - looking for a reasonable cost solution - ANYONE?

BMW R18 First Edition
I have to lower my head quite a bit in order to see the traffic behind me. Never had this problem before and I am really surprised nobody else seems to be unhappy with the mirror height. any ideas?
 
Hey ! Did you try to adjust them ? :LOL:
Joke aside I was not very happy with the mirrors on my FE about the blind spot, but they are much better now since I put a convex mirror on them as a Forum member counselled. Sorry I don't remember who right now.
But I'm still searching wider oval mirrors going far enougth on the sides.

They are held on with slow cure hot glue. Heat up the OEM mirrors with a heat gun, pry off the old plano mirrors. Apply a liberal amount of hot glue to the new convex mirrors and stick them on.

they have two left --- did you do one (if yes which side) or two mirrors??
 
I did one for a while, I think it was the right mirror, then added the other. The view was fantastic. Just buy two and have options.

I'm really concerned by the blind spot in the mirror. So I use to put these small additional mirrors in the main ones. But the round OEM mirror is too small to accommodate them. Does anybody have found compatible mirrors , bigger, oval, and beautiful, allowing to glue the additional mirror ...

I'm just not a round mirror fan. But every other mirror I installed vibrated so much that they were just useless. I may try the Rusell Sands mirrors whenever someone has them in stock. Like most here I am doing well but 400 bucks for 2 mirrors just doesn't sit well with me.

sadly, all sold out. I should of just bought instead of waiting (they only had 2 at the time) hopefully they will get more??
 
For Europe BMW used to have different mirror glass for their cars than what they put in the cars shipped to the US. I’m not sure how to access the Euro mc parts list to see, but if someone knows it may be worth a try.

You are very welcome,glad to help.Most folks get answers to their questions here.I'm a musician and have a wide collection of vinyl,mostly blues and jazz.Funny my 2 channel system cost more than my R18C,almost double.Anyway,thank you for the 1985 album.I'll check it out.
Never heard of Black Flag but we did have a Black Dog on this forum.He got put down.Funny,I never though I would say that I kinda miss him.He would have added a interesting viewpoint to your original post.;)
 
No offense to Black Flag fans but it is actually a terrible band, hardly even music

Each model of R18 (Pure, Classic, B, Transcontinental) has a First Edition package. I believe the mirrors are the same on each model, though there may be some trim differences between packages (ie chrome or steel, black, etc). First Edition packages on all models generally are chrome mirrors. I assume you meant you had the Pure model (with fishtail exhausts & no bags or windscreen).

There are a few adjustments you can make on the mirrors. First is just the rotation on the ball joint. This will give most fine tuning. The other is how far forward or back the mirror arm is in the mounting hole. Adjusting this can address major position issues like you described of having to bend down to see traffic. Moving the mirror a bit further forward should reduce the angle from your eyes to the mirror reducing or eliminating the need to bend down. There is a bolt on the underside that can be loosened to allow you to rotate the arm to the best position for you. Torque setting on the bolt is 9lb/ft (12nm).
