It’s very important information for the public, hence…Love the finish on those LJE plates. Very nice. I'm of course sold on trading out the "1800 cc" for 1802. Don't know why the 2 cc's is so important to me. After all, its just 1 cc per jug. 0.1%-ish. Probably measurable on the same scale I used to measure the perfomance upgrade in the engine plates.

Followed your lead and put black spacers between engine and plate. On the other side is my effort at ‘venting’…Love those LJE plates as well, but I am partial to the chromed and plain (No numbers) 'less is more' kind of thing. I decided to save a few hundred bucks and did my own modification with 4x 5mm 1-inch machine bolts and 4x spacers. Still allows for airflow for about 11 dollars at my local Home Depot.View attachment 22091View attachment 22092View attachment 22093View attachment 22094View attachment 22095View attachment 22096

Yep, that was my solution too - just bunged a spacer in behind the plates to give me a stand-off distance of around 5 mm (https://www.r18forums.com/threads/r18-louvered-performance-plates.4756/post-64365). Your spacers look neater than what I did. I swear it makes a difference to the performance.Love those LJE plates as well, but I am partial to the chromed and plain (No numbers) 'less is more' kind of thing. I'm in the same boat. Bought my bike in 2025 and still have the free regular maintenance for the next couple of seasons. After I will look into more aggressive modifications or not? The Bike runs great, and I literally love this thing minus the very frustrating navigation app. It's comfortable, has lots of torque, looks great, and the ride is very solid in turns. I remember my 2005 VTX 1800n I owned previously and how it would get squishy in bumpy corners, which never happens with this thing. My next mod will most likely be a slip-on exhaust. Do you have any suggestions?Yep, that was my solution too - just bunged a spacer in behind the plates to give me a stand-off distance of around 5 mm (https://www.r18forums.com/threads/r18-louvered-performance-plates.4756/post-64365). Its a "for now" solution though. Bit later on down the track I'll sell one of my many spare houses and "adjust" the air intake / filter, exhaust servo flaps, mufflers, and the tuning. Haven't done it yet as the bike is still on the BMW service pack compensation for the reverse gear recall (and at 23,000 kms seems to run very nicely as it is). My free servicing and my warranty run out at about the same time though ...
But considering there are already vents at the top and front, wouldn’t it have made more sense to buy a blank name plates and drill those? That looks clean![]()
I can have a batch made with no numbers at all if you're interested. Would you prefer Chrome or anodized black?I would've gone with no numbers had they offered them. However in person I liked this design more than I thought. You have a beautiful bike by the way.
