Bike
R18B
Well my friends, I never thought this day would come but as some of you have gathered, I am a sucker for the K bikes and today I made the decision to pull the trigger on a spanking brand new option 719 K1600B.
This sadly means I am selling my beloved B, which has served me very very well, never missed a bit and is as good as the day she left the showroom. I have mixed emotions because I truly love this bike but unfortunately there is no room for two bikes in my garage. It is far too small and there’s no way in hell I would leave any of them on the driveway overnight.
I would like to thank everyone of you who have shared knowledge and experience during my tenure here. I am a member of different forums ( bike, boat and car related) but I can honestly say, this forum is by far the best I have been a member of and it is very special to me because the courtesy, kindness, honesty and respect members show for each other. I have learned so much and interacted with really special individuals.
Anyway, I wish you all the very best from the bottom of my heart.
Ride safe and keep R18👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼

Best wishes for your new BMW and your enjoyment with it ! Like you I loved my R18 but traded it for a new like new R1250R love the bike but I am now in the market for another R18, cannot live without one !!

Thank you kindly. Who knows, I may be back in 5 years time 😂😂😂. To me, my B was one of a kind, fully 719 optioned and like I said, never had an issue with it apart from the recall campaigns which made the bike even better. I truly love it and as the sentimental fool that I am, I have spent the whole evening seated on top of her in the garage talking to my self and her. I know I am going to miss her when she is gone but such is life. Hopefully she gets a new owner that cherish her the way I do. 😔

Cheers mate. Ironically, when I sold my M109R 3 years and bit ago, I was eyeballing the K but I was intimidated by the sheer size of her and ended up ordering my B because I fell in love with the lines and concept in general. However, the itch for the K was never scratched properly and I found this one fully optioned at a very good price. That may mean that the dealer will give me peanuts for my B but this opportunity is too good to miss, hence my decision. To convince myself, I took her for a ride today and boy, BMW knows how to put a decent bike together. My B is awesome as well but the K fills the gaps I was longing for.

Always wanted to have a K. I'm guessing the difference in power delivery is head spinning.

It is very linear. It is like an electric motor and silky smooth and the quick shifter is absolutely amazing. I have found myself doing a lot of mileage lately, mainly on the motorway, so the K is more suited for that kind of environment.

I am planning to ride a K1600B tomorrow at the BMW “Ride and decide” extravaganza. But the optics of my R18 compel me to keep my R18 no matter what.

Wow, that is a surprise.
Very much different indeed; from a bruiser to a cruise ship. Can not imagine a larger difference; the hard hitting boxer twin and a supersmooth six in line. For any sort of distance worth that name a superior choice. Enjoy!!!

In '22 I went to buy a K1600... my want-bike for years, but I rode home on the TC! The K is a superb bike and I'm sure you'll enjoy it immensely.
Your presence & input on here has been invaluable & appreciated; niw the K forums are going to enjoy your contributions.
Enjoy being in the wind!

I had a K1600B once and sold it as soon as possible. I disliked the handling/weight and the unstable feeling it created at higher speeds the back end would wobble around like a feather in the wind which is why I think it has a speed limiter. Loved the look of the bike the smooth powerful engine and the generous space for two up riders. Back I could not overcome the faults. I wish you the best of luck but I think you are making a mistake.IMG_0304.jpeg

Then vs now

We of the bR18t department love the ‘Pinstriped one’ best, but I think that someone might have hurt feelings now 😉🤔

Didn’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings just being honest and provide some perspective from experience I had. Motorcycles like women are a matter of the heart and by nature we are attracted to them by personal preference and what we think we will enjoy. But it doesn’t always meet our expectations and sometimes the relationships don’t succeed. But as they say one man’s nightmare could be another’s dreamboat.
