Thought I read it can be had to get to the tire valve to put in air. I asked my dealer if they sell an 'L' shaped adapters to resolve that issue. Anyone do something likewise or is it not really needed?

I’ve just fitted 90 degree chrome valve extensions. Makes it a lot easier and I have the classic so the rear was a real bind to get in there.
whilst doing this I put some Goop in the tubes which is supposed to seal punctures as having inner tubes it’s a show stopper and recovery if you catch a puncture

Dealer suggested I wait until I need to change the tires on the R18FE, have yet to get it delivered. Seems they need to be removed from the bike maybe to change them out. I will put such low miles on the bike that will take many a year.
A friend said just restore my 1965 r60/2 instead. And as luck would have it, a good air head tech lives in GA so will tow my broken /2 up to his shop and just have him keep It until it is restored and running again. I have neither the tools nor knowledge or work shop to attempt that at my ’now’ young age.
I have a spare r69 engine, maybe between all the parts he can put something together. It got a broken piston ring so the jug would need to be enlarged which I infer the other jug would have to be as well.
Lord knows what type of little metal bits are buried inside all that oil I would almost have to think he will have to strip the engine down to the block and start from scratch which I’m sure is a lot of big bucks. At any rate, we now return you to your regular tv programming
Besides, at my age I figure the R18FE will be my last new bike purchase. Having it, plus any of my other bikes I keep, then getting the /2 running again would be a kick to have an old /2 and this new ‘reborn’ R5 reimagined R18FE bike.
