Installing new engine housing cover

Hello BER18, When I was prepping for a long trip to the eastern Canadian provinces last summer, I added a cheap, plastic fender extension, thinking that it would help cut down on road grime and rain splashing on the engine. I used super strong adhesive tape to attach the extension to the fender because I didn't want to drill into the fender. With all the rain in Canada, the fender extension didn't last long. It fell off after a few days of riding in the rain and fog. It did work for a while, but you would need to figure out a more secure way to attach the extension.
 
Finally got the bike back together with the new RSD engine cover and the powder coated valve and intake covers - about 4 hours worth of work. It was a bigger job than I initially expected because of having to remove the trusses, foot controls, engine bars, etc. just to get to the 4 screws and remove the engine cover. Putting it back together went well, except for one screw (the one hidden beneath the BMW emblem) that would not go back into place with the new RSD cover. I wonder if a different screw is required? The three other screws should hold it firmly in place, however. I'm happy with the new look, and I think the bike appreciated the attention. :)

Are you going to put matching cylinder guards on?
 
How funny, HUNTS. I was just looking online. The RDS valve cover trim is still in the $700 USD price range and way out of my budget. Don't know why the RSD engine cover was so heavily discounted, but perhaps the rest of the RSD line will be discounted, too, maybe to clear inventory?

It seems like the discounts are only in Europe. I am not seeing anything discounted around me on the East Coast of the US.
 
I purchased the billet engine cover from BMW of Grand Rapids, Michigan for a bargain price. They have some other R18 parts for sale on discount, but not the RSD valve covers I'm wishing for. I also notice that Wunderlich USA is having significant sales on certain R18 inventory parts. I'm just wondering why this sudden, steep discounts on certain parts? Any clues from someone that works at a dealership? Excess inventory? Discontinued models?

The engine cover is probably so deeply discounted because they weren't selling, not an easy install and would be quite expensive if you are paying the dealer to install it.
