Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and new to a very shiny 2021 R18 Transcontinental. My previous ride - a K1300 GT SE - got rear-ended just before Christmas. Bike and helmet were total write-offs. I got the thrill of a trip over the handlebars with an extra helping of solid landing. Nothing broken, thank God, other than the bike and the helmet. So now I've taken the plunge and joined the dark side, in a big way. Glossy black in fact, with acres of chrome. I managed to pick up an amazing first edition R18 TC from a bloke just over the border. What a superb ride! The sheer grunt of the thing ... but you all know that already.
On my recently deceased K-bike things happened remarkable fast, especially when the revs got past 6,000 rpm. The new TC is like a freight train, but purrs along at under 3,000 rpms; and the lateral torque, even idling at the lights, is a sheer thrill. So, very happy, and busily relearning my riding techniques: stopping distances, gear changing with the heel shifter, that boat oar of side stand, slow speed stuff, and a reverse gear - its all sort of familar but still different enough to need to be relearnt. Fun.
Cheers,
KAus.
