GS911 Scan Tool

I want to avoid going to a dealer to have my service reminder reset on my 2022 R18S . They show on YouTube this GS911 scan tool . But it’s nearly 400 dollars! And appears only to do BMW products. Is there any alternative that I can purchase that would not only do my R18S, but my ford explorer has well ?

I would consider keeping the GS-911 if you're considering keeping the R18 platform; it's way more capable of making additional enhancements over the other OBD-II tools.

If not, search OBD-II; there are additional tools that other forum members are using.

I really like my GS-911 ... yes, it is the more expensive option ... but it is also the complete package ... I don't regret a single Penny spent on it!

Btw. what's an R18'S'?

I've not heard of ODB-II tools that can span both autos and motorcycles (besides the generic bluetooth ODB-II plug, it's the software that counts).

As for the GS-911, I highly recommend if you have a beemer. Also, I have ODB-II tools for both vehicles and motorcycles as separate items...sometimes you just have to bite the bullet.

If you go with the USB option that will drop $100 off the price. Same functions as the WiFi model except you are tied to a laptop and usb connection to bike instead of the freedom of making your updates from tablet or phone.

A Bluetooth OBD-ii device can be had for less than $100. The pro version of the needed Motoscan app is like $30. If you’re already on an android device, that’s all you need (won’t run on iPhone). If you need an android device, add that cost. You can use a $35 Amazon fire tablet if you side load the google play store.

I believe there’s greater functionality in GS-911, but if you’re just a guy looking to reset the maintenance light, the obd setup will get you there.

You can also use the obd device on cars, though I’m not sure what apps might be needed.
