I'll be the first customer for whoever does this with a mini fuel gauge in place of the clock.

I'm not as avid a motorcyclist as many here. I started riding at 19 and then didn't ride for a good decade before getting back into it In my mid 30s. In my entire life I've had 5 motorcycles; three of which I still own. Prior to the R18 I had never purchased a motorcycle new, and none cost more than $11k. And, of course, none had a fuel gauge.

Fast-forward to a couple years ago when the R18 was teased. Finally! I surmised. Finally I'd have a fuel gauge. Surely the engineers wouldn't overlook that little luxury....

Yeah. Still annoyed.

Any fuel gauge would be nice.
It’s still better than my old Airhead. That doesn’t even have a trip meter. I have to memorize the odometer when I refuel to have a rough idea of when I need fuel. Or wait for engine to stop and flip petcock to reserve.

My other bikes do have fuel gauges, but I don’t really use them. I rely instead on the trip meter, If you ever suffered thru the fuel strip issues on the oilheads or generally how inaccurate most motorcycle fuel gauges are, trip meters are far more reliable.

I haven’t had a bike without a fuel gauge in about 3 decades.
That being said, the reserve range on the R18 is very conservative and if you watch your miles you really should never have an issue.

?? from what company? I do have that clock... perhaps a fuelgauge would be nice for the right side handle bar... but I am afraid the R18FE and C do not have the fuel level available in the electronics...and even then; how to access that in the can-bus computer system... even my extra rev tacho (from Wunderlich) has a fixed, hardwired connection to the sparkplug and power feed at the 12V aux

Perhaps there is some way to have some kind of after market float sensor developed. But until then the trip counter is the only way I figure.

I believe the range data transits the CANBUS by default. It is just a question of accessing it. On a GS, etc. with a NAV connector, it was just a matter of connecting a NAV in info mode and you had range.

Apparently there's already a sort of sensor in it, for the reserve management.
The data could possibly be used to dial it.

I checked & tried to justify having my tank modified to a larger capacity and found the cost to be crazy.I thought about buying a R18B tank button much to modify so,I am mounting a 5L gas pack to the frame of my sidecar.I will post a picture when the project is completed. It will go between the bike and car.I ordered the gas pack in black & will use it for long distance trips. It will be removed with 1 bolt.
