Found electrical relay dragging underneath bike

Does anyone know what this relay may be for? Somehow is came off and has been dragging for a short while. The last work I had done on the bike was the recall for the reverse unit. In the recall letter from BMW, they state "An electrical relay will be inserted between the battery and the reverse gear control unit".

Not sure if that's what this is, or whether it's some other relay that may have been moved out of the way during the recall repair. Either way I'll need to get with dealer and get it replaced. Just lucky I noticed it when I did. I'd hate to be passing a semi and have my bike die on me.

That's the relay for the reverse unit. It seems like they forgot to attach Pos. 1 as on the screenshot, or it just fell off.

I agree with JRM, looks like the newly introduced relay for the Reverse recall campaign..

Does your reverse function still work; the relay looks pretty beat up?

Pull the relay out of the socket and post a picture of it with the manufacturer, part number and such; does it have four (4) or five (5) terminals on it?

It might be a BOSCH relay, which are pretty common and reliable.

Talked with the dealer, and it is the reverse relay. They said the plastic housing vibrated to where it turned and fell out of its mounting hole. They're ordering a new bracket along with the relay. Part of the fix is to zip tie it to where it won't rotate and come out again.

Haven't checked to see if reverse still works. I'm told it should be a quick fix they can do right there without having to drop it off and leave overnight.
