My question is:
Has anyone purchased one of these Chinese knock offs?

The skid plate is the same thickness & the engine guard has the same diameter thickness.I don't think these are made from stainless steel but it could provide protection.

I don't need schooled on Chinese copy cats & rude comments will be ignored(Experience on forums).I have second place overseas that has a quite a large district that sells full line of FAKE/Chinese replica,Honda,Suzuki,Yamaha & Kawasaki motorcycles.Actually incredible copies.Though,I still would not buy one.(I do have a Honda Rebel 300 with Givi Bags & Trunk there)
Anyway,The engine guards are in case the bike is dropped & save the heads or the skid plate would save the botton(maybe:rolleyes:).

The price is cheap enough.Yes,I know I get what I pay for.
Lastly, the DKD prices WITH shipping are a bit ridiculous.

So,back to the question:Anyone purchase?

Regards,Tom

Yeah,I've emailed them a few times. They are a little different.

also they write:
Fitment:
For BMW R18 2020+
(Please check the mounting hole size before you purchase )

I would like to see one but, not willing to do a return to China...
Not sure if I want a skid plate, though it may be worth buying to see if it is worth the price.

As far as the engine(head)guards.I was just thinking it would protect the heads in case of a tip over.

I am going to put skid plates on my Bently Continental GT, it is after all 4 wheel drive?

I ordered one.We will see,WASOP.

once you get it and complete install I would like to know if it is steady enough to use a jack type lift under the R18 to pick it up? The other thing noticed I believe it will have to be removed to do oil maintenance

Yeah,I am thinking of doing something to either have a access hole for the oil filter and drain plug or making a door.I believe the front of the skid plate is more important to deflect objects.

Got a email yesterday that the skid plate is confirmed and shipped.I would like to compare it to the DKD to see how it compares. The price difference makes this one worth looking at.

Got the skid plate delivered for $88.70 to de door.Ordered Aug 26th and with the labor day holiday still got here pretty quick.
I also ordered the tank/knee pads from AliExpress yesterday.$23.83 delivered. If you go there all kinds of companies listing products.Be careful & watch for shipping charges.

No torque specs but looks very good.Same thickness as DKD.I see after installing the brackets there will be only 4 screws to remove for oil changes. So,I won't be doing any modifications. The rear bracket is powder coated unlike the pics I saw.Hardware looks pretty darn good. The screws are stainless.
Not sure about using with my MC dual scissor jack. But I will install it today.

Regards,Tom

Skidplate installed.

Not sure if I would jack up the bike with this skidplate.See pic of the 2 screws removed.I am looking at a jack that will lift the bike at the muffler hanger where it is connected to the frame.
Anyway,here are the pics.

Tomcentral,

Thank you for the follow up, awesome pictures and evaluation of the part. Appreciate you.

The 4 threaded bolt holes in the bottom of the engine that you are attaching the skid plate to are actually designed to attach the BMW designed and supplied, if you could find one, service lift.
More convenient to eliminate the dead fish and use their frame mount points to attach the lift.
Skid plate?
We don't need no stinking skid plate.
The Bently Continental GT does not have skid plate and it is 4 wheel drive.

the chinese are already so embarrassed with copying that even when presenting the copied product, they use Wunderlich's photos. In Europe unthinkable + very big punishment

Yeah,can't disagree with that.

I will say with my aircraft airframe experience(as a young man). The skid plate is real nice quality :giggle:.
As far as the tank grips,I won't be disappointed because of the price. If they are junk,I'll leave a (n) & move on.
In my initial post I said there is a district in Vietnam that sells all kinds of old school Hondas,Kaws,Suzi & Yamahas that are knock-off Chinese.I would not buy one that is for sure and like you,I wondered how they are allowed to sell them.
Lastly,My other interests are in Hi end audio. There are a bunch of companies that have moved their speaker production & other audio equipment manufacturing to China. Some of them make the same product & put different companies name on em.That is with the mfg approval.
Of course,I do have a USA made Jeep Gladiator,Indian Motorcycle & now a BMW.
I do try and watch my retirement money and choose wisely.Thx & You make a good case to investigate because I did not know they were stealing pictures from Wunderlich.
Sentence me,I'm Guilty!:)

I stand educated.

Regards,Tom
