  • Modelo: BMW R 18 Pure (motor 1800 cc).

Saludos, cristian

Hi everyone,

I’m writing to you from Argentina. I’m currently installing several accessories on my BMW R 18 Pure (2024/2025 model) and have a specific question regarding the physical location of the genuine anti-theft alarm module (DWA).

Bike and equipment details:

Model: BMW R 18 Pure (1800 cc engine).
Accessories being installed: LED auxiliary lights, Wunderlich dual air horn (mounted on Wunderlich crash bars), and the factory BMW DWA alarm.
Diagnostic tool: HEX GS-911wifi (to register the DWA module on the CAN bus after installation).
The question: I have the bike partially disassembled around the chassis/seat area (seat and side covers removed), and I can clearly see the rear shock, the ECU, and the wiring harness. However, I’m not entirely sure of the exact mounting position for the DWA alarm module.

I know it goes in the rear section—on the fender or rear chassis near the shock—but I’m wondering if the module attaches to a separate plastic tray or housing (a factory bracket) that needs to be installed on the chassis first, or if it bolts directly to a specific point without needing to remove the rear fender.

Could anyone who has retrofitted the DWA alarm, or who owns an R 18 with the factory alarm, confirm whether that plastic mounting tray is required? Or perhaps share a photo of the part installed in its proper place?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Best regards, Cristian
